DW: The Wishing Beast

Hey Guys,

here we go with the 97th adventure of the big finish main range – The wishing beast with the sixth Doctor and Mel. The wishing beast is three parter and the other story on the CD – The Vanity Box – is kinda a prequel and sequel at the same time.

They sounded nice enough

At the beginning of the story the Doctor resived a recording, where two siblings invite everyone to join them and visited them. The Doctor who told that his time of running into problem without thinking is over and at the same time he goes visiting the siblings because they sound nice enough. But of course it is never so easy. On the way to the house something like a ghost is warning them to go there. The siblings of course tell the Doctor and Mel that the ghost are the bad. Which one is right?

The great time traveler

The siblings are waiting for special people. A great time traveler, a hero. Of course the Doctor thinks that they mean him but they are actually talking about Mel. They want her to go to the wishing beast and get granded their greatest wish. This is a really interessting thing because Mel is a person that is actually very satisfied with her life. She has nothing like a big wish. I mean Rose wanted her dad would be alive, Nyssa would have wanted to save her father and people and everyone of his companion had something they wished for. But Mel is one of very little people that traveled with Doctor that is just satisfied. Or at least this is how i saw her and remembered her.

A

Of course it is nothing like a wonderfull and peacefull place. In that Town is a Vanity Box that makes the woman younger and more beautiful. This is something i never understand why people want to look younger or try to change how they look. I am not happy with everything i look but i would never even try to change it. But many people see it different. This little story is just what it is a little story. But the best thing is we get to know what Mel would have wished. This wish just got me because it is not just everything i thought about Mel. It is what i would have wished too. I really miss someone…sorry i am just emotional right now.

Listen or not

It is a really good story. I like the way they tell the story. Who is the bad guy and who is the good guy or is there anything like that? Is it all just about love or hate? It is a story about wishes and what they can do to people. So yes go on and listen to this great story.

Beijing: Sport Place (Beihang University)

Hey Guys,

welcome to the next article about Beijing. This is really not normal that some place like this is in such a list. But this place just felt right. It was nice and we had alot of fun at this sport place. We sat many evenings on that tribune.

Sport

In Beijing the people came out when it gets dark to make sport. This is the only time this is possible. The warm temperature and the smog is making the evening the best time to do it. For me it was still to warm to make something like sport. But alot people in beijing are coming out to the sport place and run their rounds. Some of them are jogging, some running, some walking, and some are walk around the place.
You see people in sport cloth but mostly the are runing in jeans or skirts… not all are even having sport shoes. You see sandles or even high heels.
Just lets say that you always have something to watch. You will always find something interessting.

What we were doing

We of course didn’t make sport. What did was buying coke and beer also cookies, ice and chips and set on the tribune and just watched. Okay we were also talking with each other. There is a nice silence in this place you find not often in beijing. It is relaxing just siting there and enjoying the place. Sadly but perfect for people that have to drive home the place closes on 10 o’clock. So you get the subway before it stops.

The university we were visiting was the Beihang University.

Lethbridge-Stewart: Beast of Fang Rock

Hey Guys,

the Lethbridge-Stewart serie has confused me a little with the order of the books. I thought the whole time that the book ‘The Beast Of Fang Rock’ is the second volume but i wasn’t quite right. It is in truth the third book. So i didn’t get a lot of hints of the past of the Brig. But it is not really nessasary to understand this story.

This book is not as strong as the first book. It is has a nice flow but the story is not getting to me. I have to say that i wasn’t a big fan of the story ‘The Horror Of Fang Rock’ and also don’t remember much of it. What makes it a little harder to follow the events of the book and the persons.

They way to tell the story

The story has three different time zones. The first one is the present were the Brig and his team is working again together with Anne and also with Owaine Brigs Nephew. I like these two to interact and i hope the books will explore the relationship between them more.
The second zone is 1902. That are the events that take places when the Doctor is visiting Fang Rock. So there is not much story just hints for the Doctor and the episode.
The third zone is 1923. It explains who the story is connected. Also a lot of action is taking place there.
I can’t tell how well the book works around the story of the episode because i don’t remember much of it. But when i start my rewatch of Doctor Who i will try to look into it.

What it is about

There isn’t much to say about the story. If you know the episode you can think how the book is working. But for the others: Fang Rock seems to becursed. Ghosts are showing up and really suspicious lights were seen there in all three time zones. The Brig is still searching for evidence that there are alien threats out their and finds out that maybe other people know more than him.

Just another step closer to the Brig. It is feeling wrong to write about him as something else than the Brigadier. So i hope you don’t mind that i write about him as the Brig. Of course in the story he is not a Brigadier yet. In the story he is still a colonel.

DW: Valhalla

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 96th adventure of the big finish main range – Valhalla with the seventh Doctor. This is one of the adventures were the Doctor is without one of the companions and plays around the year 2345.

Retiered

The Doctor retiered and is visiting Valhalla, where everything is for sale, and their job center. Also it seems like there power problems. A few people work in the underground at the power problems but they are not alone. The Doctor is telling himself that all that is not his problem and that he should just walk away. But we all know the Doctor can never retier. He can never just walk away.
For what i understand is Valhalla under controll of an artificial intelligence that doesn’t work after the ideas of the mayor anymore. She is cuting the power of the mayor and take over.

The Doctor all alone

Of course the Doctor is never really alone. He met the people in the underground a woman and a man and they trying to survive together. They have a good chemistry. But they are both characters that are more in the background. They want to go out alive and they ask much question. It is a shame. The seventh Doctor function for me just why better with a dominant character like Ace.

Listen or not

It is quite a good story. If you love the seventh Doctor go and listen to it. For it is more like i don’t have the feeling that i would missed something when didn’t had to listen to it. I think it is one of the adventure that will just stand in my cupboard and don’t get out again. But i can’t critizice anything, because it is a really solid story.

Veronica Mars: Season 2

Hey Guys,

i wanted to make a break between the first season and the second of Veronica Mars. But with that ending i just had to look the next season. The gifs held there promise and Logan became my favorite person. I really love Logan over everyone in the serie even Weevil – who still have to little screen time.

My crazy love

Logan had a really hard time in season one and actually nobody didn’t really help him. His bestfriend is giving him up and what ever he said it was because Logans father has killed his sister. He left Logan alone the moment he got together with Veronica. It is really unfair that Logan tried to do everything right after the death of his Mum. They more i look the more i begann dislike Duncan. He is such a asshat friend. Also he has so little emotion… and i don’t see any chemistry or anything between him and Veronica. What he does remember me alot of stalking and then she was still with Logan.

You see that i am totally in love with Logan and i just want to hug him and tell him everything will be good. Because it seems like nobody is doing this. So i really cross with everyone that let him alone. Yes Veronica too… no i take that back i am extremly cross with her. Because she goes back to Duncan… can she not wait even alittle bit more than just a few weeks? She most totally be in love with him…Sorry you see how much i love him. This season will be so much pain for me. I just want him happy and maybe even a little Weevil Logan get back together and become kinda friends?

Big Cases

Like in the first season here is a big case. Okay kinda two cases. In the end of first season Logan got accused to killed a friend of Weevil. So this is one of the mystery of the next season. Also we have a bus crash, where many people found their death and Veronica was just lucky to be not at the bus. Sadly the first part with Logan and Weevil has way to little screen time. Am i objective? No totally not, i am so not objective.

Gallifrey: Weapon of choice

Hey guys,

like you know (or not) i supscribed Doctor Who stories and you can pick a gift if you do it. The gift i decided on was the first adventure of ‘Gallifrey’. I thought it would be the perfect oppurtunity to listen in the story and decide if i want to listen them. It was an really bad idea. Because now i want all other stories of Gallifrey.

What is going on

I loved Romana and i even loved Lalla Wards Romana even more. When she left the TARDIS i was really sad. But her story isn’t over. She have a lot of adventures on their own. Gallifrey is the story were she is the Lord President of Gallifrey. What i think is a very fitting place for her. But they not just bring Romana back. We also met again with K9 and Leela. Leela stayed behind in Gallifrey because she fall in love. Her Husband Andred died and she wants to know what happend. Romana is asking her for help when terrorist came in the possesion of a deadly weapon the Time Lords forget about.
I don’t want to say to much. But it is way more behind everything than you think.

Listen or not

The story is good. It is not that it is amazing. But the story works and it is really nice to have the old characters back in action. Romana as president is really amazing. I love everything about. Also i love how much Leela thinks of Romana and trust her. Torvald is one of the Time Lords that is working with Leela in this adventure. I really like him. He is an interessting character. Also the story has very politcal background. Not everyone is happy with Romana as president. Also behind the good story is alot more and that are the reason why i will listen to the rest of the story.

Beijing: Summer Palace

Hey Guys,

here comes the second point on my list the summer palace. The summer palace is an amazing palace. The most important thing to know for this trip and i would advice to make it a whole day adventure, you need something like sport shoes. You have to talk any stairs and something like climbing… a little bit. Has you can assume now is that the summer palast is built on a hill what makes it so much more beautiful than the other temple.

Few first infos

If you want to have an audio guide you can take one on the start. You have of course chinese as a language and english. This is a big sightseeing so you have a lot of other languages for example german.
Of course you have to pay for the inlet. No matter if you visit the summer palast or the forbidden city it is all the same way. You can only pay for the main attraction here it would the summer palast or for the whole area.
Than you have to different price one for the peak season – that would be summer – and the low season – Winter. So for summer it would be 50 yuan and 40 yuan in winter. (For germans 1 yuan divide through 7 and you got Euros – in this case it would be 7,14 € and winter 5,71 €). So yes buy a ticket for everything.

The area

The area is really big. With the through ticket there are for 6 buildings you have entred to. Summer Palace, Garden of Virtue and Harmony, Wenchang Gallery, Suzhou Street and Tower of Buddhist Incense. But there is way more to see like the mamor boat and the kunming sea.

Kuniming Sea

The sea is taking the most of the area. It is a beautiful sea and you can get with about over it. The boat is driving you around a area with the look at a few pavilions. Sadly i hadn’t that look because we started at the wrong side and lost to much time at searching for the Tower of Buddhist. But my friend told us that it is absolutely worth it.
The buildings close at 17:00 o’clock. But the area is longer open. So we sit there in the park with the look at the sea. It is quite nice.

Garden of Virtue and Harmony

We think when we read garden about green grass and flowers, but this is not what you will find here. Actually you will only find a tree in the middle of it and a theater, what is actually the one thing that is to see their. The theater is really beautiful.

But you can find in the area a garden that is a little bit more like a garden. It is a really beautiful place is a little away from the main road so there are not so much people. So this is a good place to make pause.

Wenchang Gallery

‘The exhibits include bronzeware, jewelry, chinaware, furniture, paintings, calligraphy, ancient books, enamels, clocks, handicrafts made of gold, silver, bamboo, wood, ivory, horn and lacquer, and other miscellaneous items, representing almost all types of Chinese antiques.’
This is what you can read everywhere and you find there really beautifull things. But if you expect something like the juwelry in London for example you will not find them there. There is alot with jade in many forms. You should totally take a look in there.

Suzhou Street

My friend likes this part the most. This is a street around the moat with alot of little businesses. It is a sweet street. The way is really small but it has a nice atmosphere.

Tower of Buddhist

You can see the Tower from any points of the area but we had a few problems finding the right way into the building. It is on mountain/hill and you have to ‘climb’ many stairs to get to it but it is totally worth the sight.

So this is an amazing place and totally worth visiting. Hope this was hopefull. If you have questions you can always write me.

DW: The War Doctor: Infernal Devices: Neverwhere

Hey Guys,

welcome to the last chapter of the second Box ‘Infernal Devices‘ – Neverwhere. The second box thematics the question if the Doctor is still the Doctor. Ollistra is calling him this and also believe he does excatly what the Doctor would do. She manipulated him to do what she wants.

What the Doctor does

I believe the same things as Ollistra. He is still the Doctor and doing the same decisions than everyone else. The Doctor is trying to save everyone and is in away naive. Every Doctor is different. Every Doctor as his own way. The first doesn’t care about people. He doesn’t want to help or be nice. He just want to see new things.
The second would without a second thought earse the cyberman from existince, when the third just believes that their is always a other way. You can make this list as long as Doctors are their. For me the War Doctor is nothing to be ashamed of or not the Doctor. He is still trying to save people. He is still doing what he thinks is right. He is a fighter but not a soldier. He is not following any orders. He always makes his own way.
This is actually what i think is the most important thing to the Doctor. The one think that never change. The Doctor what ever he believed in, if he is bad or good. No matter if he is naive or manipulitave. The Doctor is always going his own way. He never let anyone else think for him. He thinks for himself. He doesn’t follow orders, he just follows his own believes. He always make his own way.

Living Hell

This time the weapon Ollistra is after is even more cruel than all the others and very simular to the other weapons. They created a place that can overcame everything. When you die you, you came back to live. You feel the pain. The Daleks and Time Lords fighting and nobody can win. They fight an endless battle. So the technology and the people himself is developing to make the most damage. It is a horrible version of horrible life without hope.

The story is not bad and like the whole box the story don’t get me. I will get the third of the war doctor. But it seems like just the first box got me this excited.

Tokyo Ghoul √A

Hey Guys,

the first season of ‘Tokyo Ghoul’ got me very fast, but the second season ‘Tokyo Ghoul √A’ is not so convincingly. When i started watching the second season i hadn’t read the Manga yet. So i can’t say if it is better or not as that. But what i can say is that the Anime is going a differnet way than the Manga.

Kaneki

The last season endend with Kaneki on a crossroad. He thinks that he needed to change and do bad things when it is for the rigth reasons.
So he eat Jason, who had tortured him and joins the group Aogiri. This decision is not really explained. It kinda comes out of nowhere. Jason, who also was a member of the Aogiri tortured him and Kaneki accepts not is Ghoul part but Riz from which he has the organs. This is a big differents. So he beginns to eat Jason, but why he came from that to joining the same group is behind me. I am sure that it has something to do with protecting who is important to him. Because if that is not the case it doesn’t get along with the character we already knew.
But we got very, very little scense with him.

Antique

We see alot about Toka and Himori. It is alot talking and very slow. Toka is not one of my favorite but it is alot about the girls living with Kanekis decision. Nishiki is getting also very little screen time.
But i definitly want more of Hide. He seems to know alot more than he let on. For me it is clear that he heart the conversation in the first season from Kaneki and the owner of the Antique. So he knows that Kaneki is a Ghoul. But it seem like i am the only one that seems to see it that way.

Alot of unanswered questions

We got alot new characters and the backstories are mostly really amazing. But i am sad that the old characters fall into the background and we got not enough information about the new persons. So much doesn’t make sense. Why are so many humans now Ghouls? Why would anyone do something like that? What has the whole storyline from the first part of the second season to do with the second part which is emotionally amazing and really good. Also it brings us characters back to the person they were.

Watching or not

Truth be told. If a season 3 will come i will be watching. This season was big let down for me. It is not that apparently the story is different form the Manga. I have no problem with that. My problem is that the decision is not logic and that we don’t get an explaination for it. We got so many new characters so many plotlines that ends nowhere. The last part of the season is emotionally bringing me down. It is final that makes my cry and break down it is for me the niveau of the first season but it doesn’t conacted with the first part of this season for me? Why is Kaneki now going back when we not even know he even started to leave. What was the reason for all the characters we never say again and never get really explained like the twins? Why are they Ghouls when they were human. Who made them Ghouls. Have i missed a few episodes? Because all that doesn’t make any sense for me. So yes i would watch it but it is totally a don’t watch this season…

Veronica Mars: Season 1

Hey Guys,

yes i started a new serie (or an old one) Veronica Mars. I had to look into the serie that got a film years later and i saw a lot of sweet gifs of Logan (don’t know how they can exist). From the gifs of the serie i thought Logan should have been my favorite character. A sweet boy… yeah no sweet boy – little asshole is the better discribetation. Of course there is alot more to him than that, but that is another story. Truth be told i know nothing about the serie expect for the fact that Logan and Veronica were characters in it and that there is that chemistry between them and the big question did the end up together. In season 0ne it doesn’t look like it.

First Look

So the first look at the serie is nothing i thought it would be. It is actually a little like a crime serie. The cases Veronica is taking are mostly just teenage problems but there is that big case. The death of her best friend that she wanted to solve even when the murderer had confessed. Okay back to the start. Veronica has some of the cool kids. She was dating the cool guy Duncan and brother of her best friend Lily. Lilys boyfriend is or better was Logan.
Veronicas father was the sheriff and when Lily got killed the sheriff suspect the father of her and Duncan. He couldn’t let that theory go. After a colleague arrest someone the case got closed and Veronicas father lost his job. Veronica got an outsider in the school and this is where we start of. Veronica is a taff girl, who actuelly is really good at making friends.
So who killed Lilly and will Logan and Veronica end up togther?

The group

There is no actuall group. We have Veronica and her best friend Wallace. Wallace is there to get the school files of the students for her. Than there is one of my favorite characters, who sadly have not enough screen time – Weevil. He is the leader of a motor bike gang. One of the big bad guys, who are actually really nice. He helps Veronica out a lot with infos or a little backup.
Later we also have Mac or Cindy, who is computer expert and does the hacking and programming jobs for Veronica. She is a pretty funny girl with a nice style.
Of course there is also Logan. Logan does provide help for Veronica. He is more of trying to annoy her the most he can. He and Veronica have a little war going on between them.
Than there is Meg, who is a really sweetheart. She is kinda the nicest girl in school and really popular. She can like everything – okay she can’t but she is doing a lot of stuff – muscial, news reader, cheerleader and so on.
The characters are all very sweet and loveable. Just Duncan is for me not really sympatic. He is way to passive. Yes, Logan is an asshole but he knows when he is done something wrong. He doesn’t hide that he is an asshole. He just hide that he has a really kind heart. He is the typicall teenage boy that tries so hard to be cool. After his girlfriends death he is getting even worse.

Watching or not?

When i would be still a teenager than this would totally one of my favorite series. Maybe the big mystery case would even be a mystery. Don’t get me wrong i don’t know what really happend. But the conlusions Veronica draws are things i suspected at least three episodes before her. So the story is nice and good but nothing that really can surprise me – maybe the finale can.
But the characters grow on you so fast. I love Weevil and Logan is growing on my every episode. In the second part of the serie he and Weevil are my favorite persons.
So good story. Even better characters. This is totally a go and watch the serie.
