Hey Guys,
welcome to my opinion about the serie ‘Tru Calling’. Tru Calling is an older serie from 2003. At that time i had my Buffy phase and wanted to watch the serie because of Eliza Dushku but somehow i never did. After White Collar and The normal heart i am in my ‘I-watch-everything-with-that-one-actor’-phase. So this would be Matt Bomer. Like i said i watch White Collar, The normal heart, Magic Mike, Magic Mike XXL and the only serie i don’t like him in Chuck. For people who are like me, he doesn’t have such a big role, but let’s talk about this a little later.
For everyone who hasn’t seen it yet and things about watching it here is one thing you should know. There is no ending. There are no answers. The second season has six episodes and just ends – more about this in the article of season two. But if i had known i wouldn’t watch the serie or at least not the second season. But back to the point.
Calling Tru
Tru is the main character. She is a young girl which just finished High School and wants to become a doctor. She wanted a job in the hospital but ends up in the morgue. Not just that she is also the one for the nightshift. So great job and even better work hours.
Here also starts the really story. Some of the dead people asking her for help. When a dead person asked her for help Trus day rewind and she goes again.
Happy family
Tru is also the one of the three children that seen the murder of her mother. when she was young. The family is really broken. The father let his family down and married his affair and has new kids with this wife. He just stopped being a father for his childrens and always makes them feel bad. Trus bigger sister has a drug problem and her younger brother is a player, a small crook… and always in trouble.
Tru and her brother Harrison have a really close relationship. She always looks out for him and he is so loyal to her. He would do everything for Tru and she for him.
Other Accomplice
Of course Tru has more person in her life than her family. There is her best friend Lindsay and that is actually really amazing. I remember Izombie were the friendship starts ripping. But here it doesn’t. Yes Lindsay is not happy about her new job and sometimes she is angry at Tru for not showing up. But one thing never changed and that is that these two are best friends. They always talk to each other. The phone each other over small stuff. The friendship is amazing and totally one reason i love that show.
The other reason is Luc. Luc is a sweetheart. He works as a crime scene photographer and starts dating Tru. He is the nice guy everyone wishes for. Really i would take him! He is my favorite character. He is also the one with the really bad luck.
Harrison always has a bad day and his sister rewind the day she calls him and tells him what he can’t do. So he actually always gets a better day in the rewind.
Luc is the totally oppisite. Luc normaly has a really good day and everything starts fine and than Tru rewind and somehow fate always makes his day alot worse.
The last important character is Daves. Daves is the forensic doctor. He is a little special but a really great and good guy. He also knows a little about Trus secret.
Surprise, Surprise
Let’s be honest. The characters are great. The story is not bad but definitly can’t surprise you. The twist and turns are obvious and the fate of a few characters are clear after the second episode they are in. If you look for surprise you are wrong. If you look for variety you are wrong too. Every episode has the same structur. She get asked for help. The day rewinds. She get her family back on track, tries to help prevent the death of the person who asked for help und makes Lucs day bad.
But the serie is more about the relationships, about the people she tries to help. The stories are sweet and sad and sometimes tragic. You can just watch and feel with these characters. I really liked it.
