DW: The Reaping

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 86 adventure ‘The Reaping’ of big finish main range with the sixth Doctor and Peri. This story takes place in on the 24th september 1984 in Baltimore. Peri is leaving in the end of the story for a time that is not nearer defined before she rejoin the Doctor. This Story is part of a bigger story. The Reaping, The Gathering and The Harvest belong together. The Reaping can stand alone. There is just one thing that just stays in the dark. But sometimes it happens in Doctor Who.

Peris life

This story is a very personal story for Peri. At a station on the moon ‘the googlebox’ you can see everything on earth history and she decide to look for her family. That is when she found out that her best friends dad is murdered. She wants to go home. But the welcome doesn’t go like she hoped and of course there is more about the murder.
For the first time I listened to a story where I totally like and understand Peri. We have do deal with a lot emotion from Peri and it really works for me. I feel so much with Peri in this story that the other characters like Peris mother or her best friend Cathy seems unsympathetic for me and i dislike them. It is not that their feelings are not understandable too. But they just doesn’t work for me, like Peri.

The murder case

Peri and the Doctor already have a close relationship again. She feels secure around him. It is lovely to hear. Especially when you have like older Peri with them. You actually see the similar between Peri and her mother. The story just plays with these few people. After they found out that the have to deal with cybermen. The Doctor, Peri, her mother, Cathy and Brother and the suspect of the murder are trapped on the building in the graveyard.
The murdered father comes back as a cybermen and we have to ask us if something is left in the cybermen of the real man. And what is the meaning of surviving.
The story is so real and tragic. It is a really good story and with The Gathering it got even better. Just two things are not to liking.

First i really dislike that there is something left of the father…but they are explaining it with the uncompleted conversion. Which would make him like Lisa and with this i can live.
The second thing is that the Doctor in the end let something on earth on the house of Peri, which doesn’t make sense and is really irresponsible.

DW: Red

Hey Guys,
welcome to the 85th adventure ‘Red’ of the big finish main range. Mel and the 7th Doctor are visiting a civilation that chiped themself.

Machine

The story has so much potential. It is not a new story. There is a community which decided to make a maschine that can take away your anger. They are all chiped, which mean the machine can take away your memories of your anger of your feelings. The machine takes their responisblitiy form them. This chip not just take their anger, it takes all their emotions. With brings us to very interssting situations. Because you always want what you can’t have.

Perfect system

This system seems perfect but nor Doctor or Mel thinks so. Both for really different reason. The Doctor thinks that the anger have to go somewhere. You can’t just take it away. Mel are thinking of all the other emotions like love and friendship. Also we have to patries here. One that let the machine edting them and the others that decided against it. They are not so different how they think. These people also forget how to feel and how to handle real emotions. That is what the hope to learn from Mel. I wish we had more of that part of the story.
This adventure also shows me how little Mel really knows the doctor. She believes in him and it is a good thing but he is not that good person she sees in him.

It is a really good story. So go and listen to it.

DW: Something inside

Hey Guys,

here we go with the 83 adventure ‘Something inside’ form the big finish main range. This adventure is playing somewhere after the Divergent Universe – in which this story should original take place. I assume that it also plays after Time Works. Inside the Story is no time given. So it would be a perfect fit for the Divergent Universe.

Here we go again

Big Finish want to make fun of me. This story is again a story with the future and than going to listen what happend. It feels like the story got to the start very fast. But i still dislike this way of telling stories. Again C’rizz, Charley and the Doctor lost each other again. I love it when every character can shine and this time it would be Charley. But here we see that there must be something new to be an interessting story.
The human nature is always the most interessting and this team around the time lord are amazing characters.

The human nature

There was a war that the humans couldn’t win. Everytime the humans can’t do something they found another way. This time the made a mashine that turns humans in telecnatic persons. After the war was over they tried to reverse the progress what didn’t functioned. The only other solution the humans can bring up is to bring this people into a special prison. Isn’t this a typical story about our nature. The story is really good and it makes a lot of fun to listen too.

DW: The Settling

Hey Guys,
here we go with the 82 adevnture ‘the Settling’ from the big finish main range. The seventh Doctor, Ace and Hex are landing in 1649 were Cromwell set an ultimatiom to Wexford. This is Hex first adventure in the earth past. So where do we start.

The Beginning of the end

I am not a way of the way the story is told. This is something i always say when we start in the present and than have something like two days before. But i have to say the way Hex is speaking, i forget about this way of telling the Story. Hex is thinking about what happend and seems to be very bad because he sounds a little broken. Everytime Hex is talking in the present, i just want to hug him.

Travling with Cromwell

We have two story parts. One is Hex who travels with Cromwell and is trying to make him a better man. He is trying to make a difference. Than we have the Doctor and Ace, which are searching for Hex. The Doctor and Hex have a pregant woman with them and which brings them in a difficult situation.
Can History be changed? This is a interessting theme and we know the Doctors opinion about it. You can’t change History. But maybe you can make a difference.

Did we make a difference

Hex is feeling for the first time. That he couldn’t save people like he wanted. He can’t change history, people are dying around him. Where Ace is seeing the positive side. They made a difference, they did the best they could do and they saved the pregnant woman.
But Hex don’t sees it yet as a difference. Thausands died and they saved one. He is not ready to see that one is better than none. He still wants to save everyone and that makes him so loveable but Ace is right. This makes a different. Hex is already thinking about leaving the TARDIS.

The Story is good but not more.

DW: The Kingmaker

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 81 big finish main range adventure ‘The Kingsmaker’. The fifths Doctor is traveling with Peri and Erimem. It takes place in 1483 and 1485 in England. For the Doctors timeline it takes place after the Planet of fire and after the Axis of Insanity.

Big start

The Doctor made a contract at his fourth Incarniation that he will write a kids book. This Books should be called The Doctor, Who decover… and it becames Doctor Who. It is a funny play with our title. But that is not what the story is about. The Doctor wanted to write about the mystery about Richard 3 and who killed the princes in the tower. The story plays with a lot of things. What is going on there and than there is the mysterious man ‘Mr Seyton’, which has a TARDIS and alot of knowledge about the future.

Different sides of view

This story gives us alot of time to see the different points of view of Peri and Erimem. That is actually why i love to have an companion like Erimem again in the TARDIS. We see how Erimem sees the death and how she sees alot very different. She is ready to learn new things and is eager to get to know all that stuff. But she has strong opinions and is ready to do things Peri would never understand. Which makes the story very interessting.

But that is the only thing that is interessting. The Story is not bad but not the best.

DW: Time Works

Hey Guys,

here we go with the 80 adventure ‘Time Works’ of the main range of Doctor Who. It is another adventure with Charly and C’rizz and of course our lovely eigtht Doctor. This story was planed as a story for the Diverenge Universe but it takes place now after that events.

Clockwork

What happends between the tick and the tock? The Story is really interessting. So what is it about? The story is about time. The three of them lands in a land where everything stand still. All the people just stopped and they all have watches. So time even when there isn’t one seems really important. Of course this not the only thing. The Doctor doesn’t want to stay. He wants to go back to the TARDIS, but on the way back something goes wrong like always with the Doctor. C’rizz and Charley are still trapped in the stopped time. The Doctor lands in the moving time again. So he is in the tock and the others still in the between. What gives us my favorite option to have the Companion alot of action without the Doctor. So the two try to find the Doctor again. The Doctor tries to save these two.

The two sides

They people in that land just live for anything anymore. There is just working and sleeping. How can not work or not work good enough get dispossed. This is making us ask what is life really about.
C’rizz has that talent to find the people the right people, that explain him what happend. This ‘computer’ is building a new world – rebuilt. The quest is to make sure there is still something for the next generation.
What i really like is that C’rizz have an good developement. He cut himself a little loose form the Doctor. He is like hiding behind him. Almost every sentence starts with the Doctor would say.

What i like about the story is that in between it is told like story. An Offspeaker is telling us about the clockworkman and the voice of the woman is really intimedating. She makes an amazing job. It is a good episode. Not special, not extraordinary but a good story and nice to listen too.

DW: Night Thoughts

Hey Guys,

here we go with next adventure of big finish main range number 79 – Night Thoughts. This time we have the seventh Doctor with his companion with Hex and Ace. It takes place in Schottland 2006 after ‘Human Resources’. In the Doctors timeline would have been behind Survival (TV Serie). This adventure was the first adventure from big finish that was after a scrpit of the TV-Serie but never was filmed. After that big finish started the serie of Lost Stories. We start with a little information about Hex. This is my first adventure with him so lets see how he is.

Thomas Hector Schofield

His first appereance was in the 58 adventure ‘The Harvest’. He is human and works as a Doctor. He met the two when they came to investigate alien aktivity on the hospital he works. It seems like he saw Ace got into the TARDIS and want to know about it. Ace is showing him and is convinced the Doctor to take Hex with them. This is the fourth adventure with them so there is not much to know.
In the first two episodes i don’t think what i would think about Hex. He got scared and he is having this nightmare. But he made a few dump comments to and about the girl. So i did thought really highly of him but he changed my mind. He is actually really lovely, has a kind heart and his giving out hugs if they needed. So yes i am liking him.

Happy the rabbit

This episode is really good. Actually i would have loved to see this as an episode. Because this would made a perfect horror episode. All that amazing effects how could made with just so little… just that girl with the rabbit. This is really good stuff. Big finish did a really good job with the effects to create this horror atmosphere. First i thought the story would go in a different directions. We have Hex having a nightmare about a OP and Ace almost drowning in the river. This lead the three of them to a house somewhere in the nowhere. With 3 man and 2 woman and girl. There is going something going on. Someone is dying and that is just the beginning. Of course all are mistrusting each other, people get attack and so on. The Doctor is in the middle of it with his wondefull coments and ironic way of dealing with everyone. I can’t say anymore with out actually destroying the story for you.

This Story is amazing. One of the best horror stories in the last time. Just listen to it.

DW: Pier Pressure

Hey Guys,
welcome to the Big Finish main range vol 78 ‘Pier Pressure’ it featured the sixth Doctor and Evelyn (Infos about Evelyn). It plays in Brighton in the end of 1936 and takes so place after Players. In the Doctors timeline it is betweeen ‘Thicker than water’ and ‘The nowhere place’. I promised me alot from that story because Evelyn is playing in it, sadly in the first two parts she got to sit on the sideline. But actually the guest stars are fun. The voice of the character Albert reminds me of David Tennant.

We will have enough time for this

The six and the seventh doctor are gotten darker again. When we got to know Albert and his girlfriend Emily, Emily said that they had enough time for all that nonsense. So my first tought was that Albert will not survive it. Albert is cocky and jumps to every possiblity to prove himself. He wants to get to Warner Brothers. Emily on the other hand is the voice of reason. It is important to have a job and don’t play around.
I really like these two and so i like that they are in the action with the Doctor, but why does that mean that Evelyn has to sit in the TARDIS.

He will come around

This is the first time i am a little annoyed by Evelyn. In the first episode she gives the Doctor shit and don’t take any shit from him. That is the Evelyn that i love. But in the second episode the Doctor send her with Max Miller to the TARDIS and she is just going. Because the Doctor knows what he does. I think it is established that the Doctor never knows what he does. This is something that Rose would do… (Don’t get it wrong i love Rose). But why does anyone does that?

The evil

This story is dealing with a darkness that is amazing. I love storys were you don’t know if you have a happy end or not. If it is just an endless circle or will be there a winner? Where light is has to be a shadow. That are the best stories. I don’t want to tell you more than this because the end needs to be heart not read. Just one thing this story has a darkness I love about he sixth doctor. There is no holywood solution just the truth. I promised me more of Evelyn but it is an good story and hopefully we have alot more stories were Evelyn got more to do.

DW: Other Lives

Hey Guys,
this radio play ‘Other Lives’ is the 77th adventure of the main range. It is not the next adventure with C’rizz but it is an adventure with C’rizz and Charley (in this article you find a short describtion to her – http://www.whovianandtvseries.com/doctor-who-scherzo/). The story plays in 1851 on the Great Exhibition (Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations – London, Hide Park – Crystal Palace). In the timeline it is after the haunting of Thoma Brewster and before The next doctor. For the 8th doctors timeline it lie after Scaredy Cat.
One notion before we talk about the radio play. On this radio play the ‘coming soon’ is before the story starts, which is a little bit annoying but yeah.

Again we meet

This is the first audio story featuring the Duke Welligton. The second is ‘the Curse of Davros’. In this two stories he doesn’t have a direction interaction with the Duke. But he met him before. First the second doctor met him in the year 1805 and 1815 (PROSE: World Game). Somewhere later on the Doctors timeline he visted the Duke and makes a trip to Brighton. The Sixth Doctor was at the battle of Waterloo (PROSE: Players).

In this story the Duke seems kinda inconsquence. It feels like he his two different persons. Sometime is a nice old man, who have an really sweet conversation with Charly and than he is like ‘I am the Duke. I can do what i want’. But mostly he is a nice man that help them.

Team Dynamic

I can’t say much about it. Because i didn’t heart the stories. But it seems a little bit like Charly and the Doctor are going of for adventure and C’rizz stay in the TARDIS. Okay it just started like it. The three are a good time, because everyone of them has the talent to find problems and bring them in worse situation. What i really like about the story is that all three have their fair share of the story and had an adventure of their own. They are not limited to the Doctor.

Doctor, the Husband

The Doctor gets so many problems. The couple de Roche are the victims of a assination act. The Doctor saved them and it seems like they vanished with his TARDIS. But the Doctor has now bigger problems. He get accused of being the one that tried to kill the couple. Before he got to trial, a woman Georgina Marlow, is saying that he is her husband. He seems to look like her husband and is drawn into a family problem.

Alone in the streets

Charly is an amazing character, who never should her mouth and this story so no exception. She has a big mouth that make her meeting with the Duke really amusing. When she saw the person with pistol, she goes to warn them. All it brings her in is that, she had to leave the Great Exhibition, when it closed and met a guy – Rufus Dimplesqueeze – who wants to sleep with her, because he things she is a prostitute. She ends up alone in the nigth on the street. She is searching help at the Dukes house and is drawn into a politics.

Like Zoo

C’rizz falls in the hands of a really bad man – Jacob Crackles – that take him to make him part of show of freaks. This is one of the amazing part is that this adventure is not just really in time. It acctually make the different appearing to an theme. Many time they let it slip under the carpet. Like Martha in the time of Shakesphere and so on. But here it is aknowledge that C’rizz is looking different than other and this is what brings him in the trouble. He is trying to keep his dignity. His cell companion gave it away already.
C’rizz is not working with our moral believes. He is ready to hurt people who hurt him.

I love this story. It puts everyone in a new position. It is a totally historic story and no big bad or something. This are stories i really really miss. It just happend a few things. I love how everyone have their own storyline and the Duke and Mr. Fazackerly are amazing guest stars. The only thing that is a little special is that the Doctor tell that he never saw himself as a family man. But he already had family…But this is just one thing. For everyone listen to it. It is amazing and fun and just life.

DW: Illegal Alien

Hey Guys,
i finished all New Serie Adventure books that i have right now, so it is time to went on the Past Doctor Adventures and start with the fifth book of the serie – Illegal Alien. It good reprinted in the Monster Collection and features the Seventh Doctor and Ace. The Adventure took place november 1940 in London and Jersey. It seems that for the Doctors timeline it is set somewhere after the 26 season.

Ace and Cody

Beneath the Doctor this are two of the characters that have a bigger role in the story. Ace of course because she is the Doctors companion. I am not a big fan of her, but she is an interessting and unique character. For me she is a little too much into explosives. Yeah, this is special were i often love characters, who love gun (i myself hate guns – don’t ask why…). But maybe it is because she is doesn’t seem to know what she can destroy with it. Also somewhere in the book she said that she like the The Blitz time. What takes her into a position i don’t understand and don’t want to understand. But her journay on the book is a good one. She is confronted with reality and death.
Cody is a private detective and not really sympatic. He is not friendly and has a death wish. I get me totally on the wrong food and i don’t even thing he is a good detective. It is sad that they gave him such a big role. When characters like Mama doesn’t get enough line but still are in our heart.

Rogue Time

The Story is about cybermen. One of the most used monster. Yeah i like them and here we have a rogue cybermen. It seems like this cybermen is search for blood and kills like everyone is remembered of the Jack the ripper cases. It seems like the humans always wants to become cybermen for winning a war. It is always the same. The worst in this story are not the cybermen it is the humans that betray each other, kill each other and toture each other.

The book is not my favorite. It is not my companion, not my story. It was for me just boring.
