DW: Legend of the cybermen

Hey Guys,

welcome the 135th Big Finish Monthly Adventure ‘Legend of the cybermen’ with the sixth Doctor and Jamie. It also have a little surprise we also met Zoe. The story is placed in the Land Fiction. We know this Land from the story ‘The Mind Robber’.

Figuring out what is going on

This story is the last part of the three parter. So we find out what is behind all of it. The cybermen are invading the Land of Fiction. It seems logic… or not. All the people of the other stories were trying to help in the war against the cybermen. We have quiet a special group that is fighting here. We got Dracula, Alice and Artful Dodger that all fight together. Which actually on his own already create a great and interesting dynamic.

New questions

It seems logic that they all fight the cybermen and that cybermen found a way to convert the people of the Land of Fiction. But how are they came there and what do they want there? This the mystery we try to solve in this story. I really like how this whole adventure turns out.
I tried to solve this puzzle until the end and always thought of a new surprise.
There is a part where Jamie gets his memories back and I love what they did with it. How he questioned the Doctor. It is just single question that so many companions asked themself. ‘Why did he ever came back?’ It is not just Jamie and Zoe. He left Jo and Sarah-Jane… and he never got back. Once he left he never looks back.

Such a mess

I love the story. I love the silliness of all this characters fighting together and great to see the totally different characters in unlikely friendships. A friendship between Alice and Dracula? It is fun to see this. Zoe and Jamie back with Doctor is so great to see. You can hear how much he cares about these two. But with memories of Jamie it also creates a sadness about the reality of the Doctor. So yeah go and listen to the last adventure of Jamie, Zoe and the sixth Doctor.

DW: The Tenth Planet – rewatch

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 2nd adventure of the 4th season of Doctor Who ‘The Tenth Planet’. The first Doctor is traveling with Polly and Ben. The 3rd season had a lot differnet Companions but in 4th season we got the biggest change. What actually for as makes Doctor Who what it is today. Willam Hartnells Doctor died and regenarted. ‘The Tenth Planet’ is the last adventure with the first Doctor. Polly and Ben will stay almost the whole season.
The story takes place in 1986 in Antartica and introduced another long lived enemy of the Doctor the Cybermen.

Mondas

The history of Mondas. Earth twin brother that drifted away. The story of the cybermen is not really different to the story of Daleks. There are a few mayor difference. The cybermen bringen Mondas back in our solar system to get the energie from earth. Pure survivle with no understanding for life or compassion. Polly tries to talk sense into the cybermen. That is something not many companions would do.

Polly and Ben saving the day

Sadly the Doctor don’t have much screen time. William Hartnell was ad bad health and has absend from most of the adventure. But so everything is up to Polly and Ben. There is no Doctor telling them what to do. They have to make the decissions on their own. They handle themself has good as the Doctor by messing everything up and get captured before they get out of there alive.

Reanimation

The last episode is sadly lost. But the reanimation of the episode is one of the better ones. It is detailed and you can see the typical emotions of our heros on their faces. Also it kinda suits the emotionless cybermen. I am more than happy that they did reanimated this. I love the story and it is such a important story for the Doctor Who we know and love.

DW: The Girl who never was

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 103rd Big Finish Main Range Adventure ‘The Girl who never was’ with the 8th Doctor and Charley. I know I was really quiet for a long time. Life never goes like you wanted. But let’s talk about the more important things Doctor Who. This adventure is the last adventure of Charley and 8th Doctor. The last time we lost C’rizz (Absolution). Charley can’t deal with who the Doctor deals with the death of C’rizz and wants to separate.

They are at their best

This adventure as it all. It has a great friendship at their end. Charley and the Doctor had so many adventures together. They were so close than C’rizz came and everything changed and when he died everything again. The way Charley is grieving and the way the Doctor is grieving or trying to avoid grieving doesn’t work together. So we have these both character that cares deeply about each other and still need to say farewell. The last adventure and it doesn’t work out like they thought. The story with each other are always the best when they are on their own. Charley is landing in 1942 on the Batavia – Batavia was a the last ship out of the harbour at the japanese siege of Singapore. The Doctor lands on the same ship in the year 2008.

I am Charlotte Pollard

The Doctor meets an old woman who tells him that she is Charlotte Pollard. She doesn’t remember what happened in 1942 and doesn’t remember the Doctor. Is she our Charley and the Doctor fails to save her and she just stays there and live her life. If she is not Charley than who is she really. The Doctor is trying to solve this mystery and find his Charley.

Charley on the other hand find herself in 1942 on the ship with the crew of the smuggler Byron. She also met a girl disguise as a boy on the ship. It is like throwback to her past when she run away and smuggled herself as boy on board. Isn’t it a great circle?

The End of the story

I like the story but it is war from the best we had from them. It feels most of the time like a farewell. It is time for both to move on and that is how the story feels for me. It is good but the best times are over and it is time for something new. Even both are not ready to really let go. Something it could go on and then next second you think no it can’t and that it is. It is an end of an era. It is a good goodbye to them. They were a great team but they never really got them totally right and that they kinda misunderstood what is going on is so them. It feels right as an end for them.

DW: The Harvest

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 58th adventure of the Big Finish Main Range – The Harvest. It featured the seventh Doctor and Ace. We also met for the first time Hex Scofield the new companion of the Doctor. This story takes place in London 2021 October the 12th, which also Hex birthday. What is also kind of important is that this story is the last part of a trilogy. The other parts are The Reaping with the sixth Doctor and Peri and The Gathering with the fifths Doctor and Tegan.

The triology

I really loved the other two stories. They were about cybermen and what life means. They were great and now we have the last part of the story. This story can definitely stand alone. You just see it as the final part when you really listen to the other two. It has nothing directly to do with Cathy – or not with the Cathy from the other two parts. When you haven’t listen to the stories this story is even more surprising because you didn’t know from the start that this about cybermen. But it also doesn’t disturb the story.

Never have seen through real eyes

Like I said in the beginning we met Thomas Hector Scofield in this story. It is his birthday and it is a real bad day for him. He works in the hospital as a nurse. When a good friend of him get wheeled in the A&E and dies. On his birthday party on this evening he meets Ace – who is undercover working in the hospital – and got attacked by a really fast man.
From that point Hex is lost. He is involved and he just can’t walk away. So I think he is perfect for these two.
The other part of the story is a man waking up from surgery. This man is feeling and seeing for the first time and he seem really happy about it.

Listen to it or not

Yes, listen to it. It is an amazing trilogy. I love Hex from the first moment. He is fun and totally over his head. After he met the Doctor is like ‘Oh my god’ all the time. But he never backs out. He is with the Doctor and Ace from the start till the end. He is panicking but also he is getting things done. What I really love about is that the Doctor and Ace accept him from the start. It is not like C’rizz where neither the Doctor nor Charley are really letting him become part of the group.

DW: Sword of Orion

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 17 adventure of Big Finish Main Range ‘Sword of Orion’. It is a story with the eighth Doctor and Charley. They met the cybermen in the year 2503 in the Garazone System. It is long after the Cyber War but in the Orion War. I think many can already thing how the story plays from here.

Orion War

The Orion War is a war in the late 25th and the early 26th century. It takes place between androids and humans. This got also explained in the story itself. The human race is always on a war.

Surprise, Surprise

The Cybermen are not dead. The Doctor and Charley strand on an old cybermen factory. A ship and their crew trying to get everything that makes money from the factory. The new captain is fishy from the start. The story is not really surprising at all. The characters are kinda dull. One of the crew got killed and they blame the murder on the Doctor. What totally make no sense at all. But all of the characters doesn’t make much sense. I also have problems to follow who is who in this story.

Listing or not

Okay truth be told this one of the very little adventure were I thought I really didn’t need to hear it. It is not sooo bad. But the story is a little boring and the characters are all so annoying. Of course Charley and the Doctor are great but that is here not enough.

DW: S08x12 – Death in Heaven

Hi Guys,

welcome to the final of Doctor Who. Actually i don’t know what i think about this episode. There are two big negative points for me in this episode – apart from the death of a few people.

Cybermen

This cybermen thing is quite uncool. I didn’t like the Craig think in the other season and here again the same. The cybermen were something bad, something cruel, because you could come back from it. Love, a cybermen with out emotion can’t feel love, he doesn’t even understand love, so he couldn’t protect Clara. Because this changes everything… Okay i hate it because it takes away all the dramatic from Ianto and Lisa. Also the rain thing is stupid and i can’t really accept it has just the typicall stupidity of Doctor Who.

The Master

The Master is double-edged sword. I told you that i don’t like the master in that form. But i have to say, that i like the idea of the master just doing this thing to see the Doctor at the edge. To make them more like himself. This is something the Master does in all the season. They were once friends. But i don’t like how it is played. I don’t like that whiny i need my friend back. That is not the Master i love. Also it seems like the movie the never take place. And know the Doctor did what? Kill her? He never could kill the master. Even after all he did, he never could do it. Thats who they are.

The Deaths

Osgold is dead and now a cybermen. That is one of the stupidest things i ever seen on Doctor Who. Really why did they kill her? Why is she even in a room with the master? Why is UNIT, which as files like nothing else about the master just in handcuffs in a room with just to soldiers and Osgold? Who could the Doctor let that happen? Really the Master broke out of high-security prison with no one noticing – twice. UNIT and the Doctor of all people should know better. But there it is this dead girl which saved Kate. Also a scene that was totally unnessary? Why did they do it? It doesn’t really have an effect because right after it cames that emotional scene with Clara.

The End

They could have done so much more with that stuff. Also with the boy. Why was he there? Just so Clara don’t have an happy end? We don’t see any talks of them. He just goes back. What totally is stupid because, he was long dead. There are so many young people dead… i hopped for more. But the last scene with the Doctor and Clara is really good. I love that scene this is emotional. That is typical the Doctor and Clara. But really Santa Claus?

I don’t know what to say to it… So tell me what do you think about the final?
