DW: Companion Chronicles – Star Born

Hey Guys,

here we go with the new adventure of Vicki and the first Doctor in ‘the Companion Chronicles’-serie. It is the 9th adventure of the 8th season and play in London early 20th centuary. In the timeline of the Doctor it most be shortly after Rome, that would be ‘the romans’. That means Ian and Barbara are on board of the TARDIS. This is one of my favorite travel group.

A story about Vicki

It is like that. Of course it is really good that Vicki has such a big role because it is her story, but Ian, Barbara and the Doctor completely changeable. The role are so little that it also could be Dodo and Steven… or someone else. But Vicki is really well written and can totally shoulder the story on her own. The Story is a nice idea. Vicki get warned that when she will step in the TARDIS again she will die. The person that whats to save her is nobody else than herself. Vicki is an interessting character and make that story work really nicely.

Time

The only point i have is the time thing. How much time did they spend on that planet to develope that friendship? For me this friendship thing is to fast and not really believeable for me. Also Vicki seems to know the Doctor very well, what is a little special because she doesn’t know him very long. ‘The Romans’ is the second adventure together and Vicki hasn’t seen many side of the Doctor at that time, but she knows him in that story good enough to know he will do anything to save them. This is what takes a little away from the story. But this can only be me.

Fazit

The first story read by Maureen O’Brien (DW: Frostfire)was for deficult to listen to. This story his more pleasant to listen too. It is a really good story and Maureen did a really good job reading the story. It is sad that the role of the other are so little but it don’t take anything form the story. Vicki is shining in this episode and i can recommand it. It is a really good story.

DW: Destiny of the Doctor – Babblesphere

Hey Guys,
so here we have the fourth adventure of the ‘Destiny of the Doctor‘-serie with the fourth doctor and Romana II read by Lalla Ward and Roger Parrott. It plays on the planet Hephastos. Also with all the hints from the story it seems that the story plays after the episode ‘The Leisure Hive’ before Adric is joining the group.

Story about our own world

This Story is about something that is called the Babblesphere that also could be called internet. Of course here in Doctor Who, the babblesphere is a room, where your conscious mind is and you can’t just go out anymore. No thought is private. For me it is like the internet just a little bigger and so on. They tell the story how everyone lost themself on this babblesphere. They just stopped wanting doing something else. The stop going to work and just shatter in the babblesphere.
There is going something more on, because at the start of the story someone get killed by the programm. Also it plays with the theme of computers take the power. The people built this programm to overview the babblesphere but this programm begann to think that he don’t know this people anymore.

Play a game

Romana is lovely and i think the characters are really well written. Romana have a lot of action the first part is mostly about her and this is a really good thing. Also it is fun to here they play that game. They play the game lists of 5 things to overwheel the programm. They are a few fun things in it. Romana list the former presidents of gallifrey or the 11th doctor give a list of his favorite foes and so on. It is fun.

Fazit

It is a nice story and it has some really atcual theme but i find at really hard to listen to it. I don’t know what it is but i always almost start sleeping when i am listing to it or i just began to blend the voices out. I need to hear it three times before i had the whole story. So for me it is one of the weekest part of the serie.

Doctor Who: The Seventh Doctor Volume 1 in Germany

Hey Guys,

i was walking through the Dvd-boards on the shop and what did my eyes see? The Adventures of the seventh Doctor in German. I heart that it should come, but i didn’t believe it. But there it is. I don’t understand why the started with the seventh Doctor, but i also one who don’t understand the question where to start with Doctor Who. Because for me there are just two posibilities with the first Doctor or the ninth Doctor. But that is just me.

So there is the seventh Doctor in german that is a good thing. I will not buy it, because i have all of them in my DVD-board at home in english. But this is a good developement for every Doctor Who Fan in Germany, who think about buying it – do it. The seventh Doctor is fun.

I can’t tell you about the quality or something like that, because like i said i will not buy it. But i can tell you what is on it and i will link my articles about the episode in the english episode name. Also the review that i read about it tells that there are a lot of bonus material in that Box.

On the DVD are the episodes:

The Seventh Doctor

My problem with the seventh Doctor is that the stories don’t caught me. I love the characters. The Rani is one of the best time lords we ever met, also Mel and Ace are good characters even when i don’t like them very much. The seventh Doctor is a good Doctor. The Doctor is different from the others before and he is with the sixth Doctor the darkest of the old doctors. He often isn’t the nice understandble Doctor. He isn’t really nice to Ace (Ace will be in the last episode and will be the companion in the next season). She said she doesn’t want to go there and he will bring her there the second she says it. He force her to confront her problems, her fear and not on her terms – on his terms. But he has a charming art to play it with his umbrella and his way to walk and talk. It is a really interessting and amazing Doctor. So i just can tell everyone even when the episodes are not so good, he is worth it.

DW: The Movie

It is a sad day because i have see all Doctor Who Adventures that are out on DVD… what am i watching know? First off all i will rewatch the movie for you. I was not a big fan of the movie but i love the eighth doctor with everything i have. Maybe i will change my mind now, we will see.

The first thing is i dislike the TARDIS in this movie. I really thing such a room would be in there but not in the consule room. I really dislike it. The Doctor have the remains of the Master in the TARDIS. Something happends and the Master can escape. The TARDIS lands her self on earth in a gangs fight. He got shoot and one of the boys get him into the hospital. It is fun to see, how he don’t know what to write on the paper and choose to name him John Smith. It is a nice hint.

The call the medic. she is in the theatre and has trouble about it with her friend. This Doctor can’t save the Doctor, what leads as to an incredable stupid Frankenstein scene with the Doctor. Also we have that stupid Master thing. He just is slime and possessed the people. Not a big fan of these things. The Master reminds me of the Terminator.

But i am a have of the third Doctor scene were the Doctor steals his outfit together. The regeneration is not going very good so he needs help and try to get the Doctor to help him. He doesn’t  remembered everything.

The scenes were the Doctor and Grace are out for a work are the best. He is telling her about Gallifrey and how amazing and wonderfull it was. No other doctor from the classic ever talked about it that way. The Doctor is sweet and full of energy.

There are a few hints of the other Doctors. There were the Jelly Bellys. These things are fun but than we the Masters green snake eyes and i want to turn out the tv. The Effects are really bad?!

But than there is that sweet talk and the bike about what her life will be. She is really sweet. I like her and like the interaction between the Doctor and her. Also the Master is funny with his dressed for the occissions. That is the Master we love. But this is deffintly the weakest master in the history of Doctor who.

The guy that helped the master changed his mind and it was a really good scene. Because it showed what this boy could be and the master killed him. that is what evil do. It is a good scene.

What i also like that the Doctor is in the trap of the master. He can’t do anything to help or safe the world. The one who must do all the work is Grace. She is the one who saved the earth, who saved the Doctor.  Also Grace is dying because that happends to heros. The scene are amazing and so dark, real and full of emotion. Such deep scenes i really missed in Doctor Who and than the Movie is making everything bad. The make a stupid happy ending. The TARDIS saved the boy and Grace. Everyone is alive.

The only thing what is good about that movie is totally the Doctor. He is really amazing and can just recommended the big finish stories with him for exmaple the Dark Eyes.

DW: The Curse of Fenric

So welcome one of the last Doctor Who Storys i have left.

My plans are to watch Sarah Jane Adventures again and than start at the beginning with the first Doctor again. I haven’t write about it and i need my episode Doctor Who every day. Also i hope that more Doctor Who Stories are coming out on DVD.

This Story is about the second world war. Ace is a really special person. She didn’t like Clowns, ghost houses or swimming. She could be a really amazing companion. But it seems like they always travling to times where woman don’t have a say. I don’t like it. Also they ever let her stay back. She is most of the time exactly doing that. Also it seems that everyone has interesst in the vikings.

Okay there is this really special ‘love’ scene between Ace and that old soldier… okay he seems old.. and i don’t know.  She is just more unsympatic than before….

I love the scene where the Doctor goes against his companion. That is how you destroy trust. There is a storyline in the new doctor who era. Where the Doctor tries to broke Amys trust in him und i found it really stupid, because he broke nothing at all… But here he did. The only thing i really loved to see is, that Ace didn’t just forgave him. That she has to work on her trust again.

DW: Ghost Light

Okay guys, we are near the end…

i don’t know a what i think about it for now. For first it plays in a different time, but i am a bit annoyed be how everyone is treating Ace. So now to the Story. It seems like they entered a ghost house. The house is a little different. All personen are acting a little strange. Ace don’t like ghost house. She was in one and never wanted to go back. She was thirteen and sensed something bad. This Doctor as cruel at he is brings her back to this house. So she can face her demons.

The Story doesn’t make much sense for me. All Characters are strange and i don’t can understand any of them. This not a story for me. Maybe if i can sympatize with a character it would be different but i can’t. So for me it was kinda boring. But we will see what the next story brings.

DW: Players

Hello Guys,

It is the sixth book of the 50th Anniversary Collection (Past Doctor Adventures) from Doctor Who and is featuring the sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) with his companion Peri.

The book is a little patchy. It goes about Churchil and a group of people trying to interfere with his history. They are trying to kill him and it seems like it is a kind of a game. We just don’t know the rules or the goal. This is the interessting part of it. The other part is Hitler again… Of course it is this time, but i have problems with the way the most medias deal with that topic. In that book it is not so bad. I don’t know much about that time in England so i don’t know who good the time is written, but it seems realistic.

What i really like is that we met old friends. The solider of ‘the war games’ for example. Also we met the second doctor again. This is an amazing good a idea and i love how they play with it. Peri have a little action for herself can totally shine. What i find a little sad is that this Doctor is so nice. Of course the Doctor lose a little of his ‘hard’ side but he is for my picture of the sixth doctor to nice. I hoped for little more sarcastic Doctor, a little snippy?!

It is nice to get a little history about Winston Churchill. I don’t feel the tension. It jsut walks slowly and it is not my thing. It is nice to have so many faces you know to see interact with each other but it is not enough.

The last chapter makes a good end. At first i thought that it was unsatisfying but i read the last few pages and thought about it, it is on of the best ends you can make i think.

The next book is Earthschock with the eighth Doctor, because the book of the seventh book of the 50th Anniversary Collection is just the book about the episode. So i watch it and i don’t need to read it.

DW: Battlefield

So, i love this episode because the Brig is playing in it and UNIT is there again. A UNIT without the Brig. I really have big expetations. The Brig is in retirement but he goes back when he hears that it is about the Doctor.

This Story had a cross over with other demension. With Arthur and Mordrid and they are knowing the Doctor as Merlin. So it is fun to see all people recognize the Doctor as Merlin. But the best part is that the Brig also recognized the Doctor.

It is really lovly to see the Doctor and the Brig interact. It is so sad we can’t see the Brig with another Doctor. He is perfect and he brings Bessie. The Story is for my taste a little to much magic, but i really like everything else. UNIT Stories where alway the best because of the characteres. And the Characteres have not losed anything. It is sad that Benton is not also back. But as long we have the Brig i am happy.

For everyone which love the Brig, this is a really good story. The Brig is amazing in it and it did him really justiz. The Doctor is really cold. He fight with words and that is amazing but he also is distant. He choose a side and don’t have any thoughts about the enenmy. He no longer tries to safe everyone.

Long live the Brig and UNIT.

DW: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy

Welcome to a new story,

i like the beginning. It beginns with the circus director who welcomes as to ‘the greatest show of the galaxy’. Again we have very special costumes and special characters. The Doctor is getting junk mails. It is really fun to see the reaction of the Doctor and Ace. I didn’t get warm with Ace, but i really like the Doctor. He is a playful person and also really, really dark and i find it really interessting to see it.

We see this side never like that before. No Doctor destroys thinks and person with so much self-satisfaction than this Doctor. He is so proud of himself for all he did. That is really amazing to see this become the Doctor. I know i said that before, but i really love that fact.

Even if i don’t like Ace i like that the way she is shown in these story. She is really afraid about the circus und i like how insecure she is, but i don’t like that her answer to everything is violence. (Yeah, i know i write that before but this is what is important for me)

But i like the greatest show of galaxy. They are special characters and you don’t which is on which side and what they what. There is a mysterium and i really  like the play with all that things. We have professors, Harlekin, Werwolves and robots. There is something for everything.

This is my favorite story so far from the seventh Doctor.

DW: Survival

This is the last Doctor Who Story for me. That is really sad. I am at the end and i don’t want it to end. But after that i will rewatch the film, because he is the real end and i will write about it. But i  can tell you i am not a big fan of the movie but of the Doctor. Paul McGann is an amazing doctor.

Okay, i like Ace a little more in the Story. She is anouyed at one point of the Doctor. He is havening problems with Cats and is not a real surprise that the Master have a play in it. I love stories with the master. Ace wanted to know what her friends are doing. So they go back to eart in the preesnt. People vanished into. There are this creatures and also it seems like thereis something like a sickness. The Master get yellow eyes and not just the Master. Everyone. It is a really good Story. Doctor Who would be awesome when it when it would be going on.
