DW: Little Drummer Boy

Hey Guys,

here comes another Christmas story form the ‘Short Trip‘-Range ‘Little Drummer Boy’ from the second season. The first Doctor travels with Steven and Sara. Sadly I don’t know any other adventures with Sara Kingdom. I know that she exist and traveled with the Doctor but all the TV episode with her are not available on DVD… so this is actually the first time I hear a story with her.

Random landings

This story is mostly from Saras point of view. We got a lot of her thoughts and that would be more interessting if actually would know her story, but it also gives us in a few sentence a good summeray. That makes it a lot easier to get a grip of her character.
So in this story the Doctor tries to make random landings so the Daleks would lose their corse. But somewho they always end up at earth at christmas through the years.
So is a little boy named Robert. Of course our three heros try to find out what is behind all that. I really like the twist in this story that I didn’t see coming. It is all day excidents…

It is an interessting story. For me it is a little to happy end and in the same time not… So I don’t know where to put this story. But it is a good story and it is the first Doctor so go and listen to it.

DW: O Tannenbaum

Hey Guys,

merry christmas to all of you and to celebrate I got the Doctor Who Story ‘O Tannenbaum’ from the seventh season of ‘Short Trips‘. The story is about the first Doctor and Steven, who also reads the story. I love the ‘Short Trips‘ but I always find it hard to write something about it without telling you everything that happened. But like always I will try my best.

Christmas Trees

So what is the story about. The Doctor and Steven land before a old farmhouse near a forest of ‘christmas trees’. In this couttch they met a little girl named Greta, who is waiting for his father to come home.
It is not a horror story about it goes for a little creepy athmosphere. Music from a gramophone and the backround sounds a little creepy…that something is going to happen. I really like the atmosphere that they are creating. It didn’t feel like a christmas story but it kind is. A thing I love about the first Doctor is that he changed so much over all the season so much. To listen to the Doctor giving his speech is great and I have to thing of where we started with this Doctor.

It is a great story, with great atmosphere and I love the ending.

DW: The Last Day at Work

Hey Guys,
welcome to the new Short Story ‘The Last Day at Work‘. Big Finish released them for free. This story won at the ‘The Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trip Opportunity’. It features the second Doctor and Jamie after Victoria left the TARDIS and before they met Zoe.

What is going on

I always find it hard to say something about the short trips. The Story is easy enough. It is about Bernard Whittnam. He is a police men and this day the story takes place is his last at work. The Doctor and Jamie met him at a pub where he is celebrating is retiring. That is the story. Obvisouly there is more behind it, but I can’t tell anything more without ruining it.
So this what is going on. A nice evening in the pub.

Atmosphere

What I love about the short trips is the atmosphere they are creating in this short time. All the Short Trips I heart were amazing like Rise and Fall or Landbound. This story is not as amazing as the other I know, which are just four with this one. But it still creates a good atmosphere and it is a good story. It is easy to listen to and Nick Briggs does a great job by reading it.

So go and get it. It is quit entertaining and good idea. I would have thought that it turns out like this. Which is the second thing I love about the Short Stories and that they always have a surprising ending. It is not boring in any way. Just a little nice story about a man who meets the Doctor and Jamie and the consequences. Because meeting the Doctor always has consequences. But we all still love him.

DW: Landbound

Hey Guys,

welcome to the Short Trip Landbound. It is a story in the 7th season of the Short Trips that Big Finish produced as special free release. The story has two parts. The first part plays directly after the episode ‘Doctor Who and the Silurians’ of the 7th season of Doctor Who. It doesn’t deal with what happened in the episode like on of my favorite stories does (CC: Old Soldier). The second part plays after the episode ‘Green Death’ of the 10th season. So the Doctor has no Companion with him in both parts.

Meeting related soul

Like I said before the story is not about what happened the Silurians. But it still happens directly after it. The Doctor is so angry with the Brig and just drives away. This is where the story starts the Doctor meets here a related soul. After he helped in an unsightly situation he get an invitation for a drink. That is what happens they just start talking about their stories. About losing their way to travel to see the world. They both are souls that need to move all the time and both lost what they loved.

Dealing with exil

We all know that the exile was really painful for the Doctor. The way he can’t move, bound the land. For me it is like this man is helping the Doctor do deal with this situation. When in the second the Doctor tries to help him. The story is about not giving up, to fight for what love.

Listing or not

First of all of course go listen to it because it is for free. Second it is a good story. I am not a big fan of third Doctor. He things so highly of himself. But I love the exile stuff and the UNIT family. So the story with just the third doctor has it harder than other stories to excite me. But it is good story and I like the Doctor in it.
Yeah it never be favorite story because Rise and Fall is just so amazing.

DW: Forever Fallen

Hey Guys,

welcome to the Short Trip Forever Fallen. It is a story in the 6th season of the Short Trips that Big Finish produced as special free release. The 7th Doctor and Ace are visiting Elysium 7 to help a man through his life. It seems that Elysium 7 is mentioned in this story for the first time. It is impossible to say in which year the events take place. I really like the Short Trips. Rise and Fall is one of my favorite story.

Good intentations

This short Trip is a slow story. It is about a man who wanted to remove free will on Elysium 7. The Doctor is convincing him to don’t do it. After the first encounter the Doctor and the man are meeting one time every year. It are just a few minutes we get every year. Just short glimpses of his life. This glimpses are painting a clear picture of what his life is in the moment.
It is really good. I don’t want to say too much.

DW: Rise and Fall

Hi Guys,

This is a story from the ‘short trips’. I really like the story. It featured the first Doctor and Ian Chesterton. Nothing happend in this story. Ian and the Doctor just stood there and watch. It is amazing and it is a really good described. The others, the aliens are living in a faster time line so you will get the whole story of there evelopement. The whole hystory of mankind. The Rise and Fall of a civilation.

I don’t know what i can say about it, because it only goes ca 30 min and it don’t happend much. But William Russel is doing a really good job reading the Story. I like how he read the Doctor. He has a good feeling for him. I really see the Doctor before me, when he is reading. So i can total tell you that this is worth your time.
