The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Technophobia

Hey Guys,

here i go with the first adventure of Big Finsih ‘The Tenth Doctor Adventures’ – Technophobia. It is not just the tenth Doctor but this adventures are the best team back together again. Donna and the tenth Doctor are just amazing together. Out of the three companions of the tenth Doctor is Martha my favorite but she never have that amazing chemestry like Donna and the Doctor had. So i am really happy to get more action of the both of them. But i wouldn’t say no to more adventures of Martha?!

Special Edition

I decided to buy the special edition of the volume one of ‘The Tenth Doctor Adventures’. The packaging is amazing. It has the size of a DVD box. The box is made out of a stable carton. The DVD shell itself is like a book. Actually it is a book.

Inside you find five DVD’s. Three of this DVD’s are the stories of the Box: Technophobia, Time Reaver and Death and the Queen. The other two are bonus material: The Tenth Doctor Adventures Documentary and a documentary about the Audio Adventures of Doctor Who. I don’t have listen to any of them yet, but i will and i will also let you know my thoughts about it.
But this is not all that is in that book. We also have forwords from Dan Starkey and Terry Molloy. Also thoughts about the three adventures and Director’s Notes from Nicholas Briggs and at last the Prodcuer’s Notes from David Richardson. The other pages are filled with pictures from the crew.

So i thing this limited Edition is worth his price. I really like it and i wish other boxes whould follow this example.

Meeting dream team again

The best about these two is that the were never romantically involved with each other. The are best friends traveling around and getting into mess. Of course this time is not different. They just want to visit a technology museum. The Story doesn’t play far in the future for Donna. It is set on Earth in 2011.
It doesn’t take long and Donna already made new friends. It is so much fun to listen to Donna acting. Donna is getting here the most action the Doctor is just figuring stuff out. The characters has a great chemestry and i Donna and Bex – she works in the museum. They bound with each other over their jobs as a temp – which is most likely. After i start working in the backery and sell stuff, i always bickering with other Sellers when i buy stuff.

Our greatest enemie

Something seems to go on in that museum and the robots and computers. What this story does it. It does take a really common story the robots and computer are turning against humans. But the have a new twist in it that the technology is totally fine and working the way they should. We depent so much on the technology these days and what happend when they turn against us. This time it is the humans the problem. Everyone get really frightend about technology. For someone who don’t know technology it must seems very frigthend.
I really like the story. It is fun and get me in a good mood to listen to it. Just like most of the episodes did when the don’t left me heartbroken.

So i have really high expections of the other two stories. Which will of course follow over the next to weeks.

The Musketeers: S03x02

Hey Guys,

he watched the second episode of the musketeers. This time i don’t have much to say about the episode. She was a good one not the best but good. It was acctually a standard episode. Some we have in every episode. The musketeers the only one in Paris that tries to perform justice.

No kissing…

The characters are so perfect and i love them interact. I love to see Aramis and Porthos going back to their old friendship and rebuilding the trust. How Aramis and Athos are like nothing happend. Constance, who got so strong and indepantend. She choose to not even let her obligations slide a little, not even with her lovely husband in her bed. I love how they still try to protect each other. D’Artnagnon is calm and than someone touches his wife and he got all protective even when Constance can protect herself.
But i miss Mylady… she is missing and with her a part of the magic of the musketeers. The kiss that woman gave Athos made me realize again that she is alone in London and i want her back. I want her in season three and i want her together with Athos… i want an happy end.

Like big brothers and wise kings?

It is really sweet to see, who this little musketeer is watching Aramis and Porthos like it is the best thing in the world. Hopefully the interact more often with this sweet guy, who looks at them as their were his amazing big brothers.
What gets me is the King. What happend their. Did he actually started thinking? It seems like he still believe that their is something between the queen and Aramis. But it doesn’t seem like he things that his son isn’t his son. Also it seems like the son is more a father than a mother kid. The Queen is more than just unhappy in her life now..

DW: The Nowhere place

Hey guys,
welcome to the 84 adventure ‘The Nowhere place’ of big finish main range. This story plays in 7th september 1952 and 2197 somewhere by earth. The Sixth Doctor and Evelyn is hearing a bell and are going to investigate.

The bell

The Story seems promising and a little mystirious. Some people are hearing a bell and seems to go crazy. The have panic. But what this the whole mystrious thing about it. Mainly the story plays in 2197 and their is were people are hearing the bell. A bell from the 7th september 1952. I thought that the actions on 1952 have something to do with the happing in 2197 but this is not really the case. Because the whole episode in 1952 just could have left out. It doesn’t really make sense. And the solution behind it is a liitle disapointing but it is kinda realistic.

Characters

Evelyn get a little more action than in the other stories i listend before. But the main actions is still on the Doctor. Tanya Oswin are a good character and i would have loved to have more time with her. She is really human. The other characters on 1952 are a little to mysterious. They worked at a secret facility. But we never got more information. This characters with a real story could be great but how this part of the story is played it is just to much.

It is not a bad adventure, but this is actually the weakest i have heart until know. But still nice to listen to.

The Musketeers: S03x01

Hey Guys,

my favorite serie this year so far is back on the tv-screen – the musketeers. This is not just the third season this is also the last season of the musketeers. I will be really sad when this season ended i am sure but better and on an high than as a bad season.

Old friends

The first season brings almost everyone back. We see the king and his son, Queen Anne, the captian and of course Constance. She is in charge of the musketeers. I love that she is standing her ground again in this world of the men. I hope we will see alot of her and her fights.
Of course the musketeers are also back. They went to war without Aramis, who decided that he wants to live a life as a monk.
Of course the first episode brings us 4 years later to the reunion of these four people. What is totally one of the best things of the episode. We see the two most important relationships for Aramis. The Arthos and him relationship which are like brothers, always happy to see each other, forgiving and understanding of the decissions the other made.
Also the Porthus and Aramis relationship that is as deep as the relationship with Arthos but in a totally other way. Between Portos und Aramis is such deep trust. The depend on each other, trust each other blind and are always looking out for each other and the others. Aramis decission to not follow them into the war hurt Porthus deeply. They are more like soulmates.

The goal?

I don’t know where this season wants to lead us. I have seen years ago the movies but i don’t remember much and i never read the books so i have no idea what will come now. The bad guys this time seems so… i don’t know unsympatic? Okay the Cardinal was not sympatic but the way he was played was so amazing that you was interessted in him and Reuchille??? was for a bad guy real sympatic until the crazy end. But this bad guy doesn’t get me like the other two did in the first episode. But i don’t want to judge right now, because i have great faith in this serie so i am sure the bad guys will be as amazing as the other two were.

So all in all i am just really happy that this season is back and hope that it will not let me down like other series did this year. I had fun watching the first episode and are excited for what will follow and hopefully we will also get Mylady back. I miss her and i am still hoping (against better knowledge) that Arthos and Mylady will get their happy end. I rule for them. She is such a great and shady character. I would really miss her if we will not see her this season.

Torchwood: Ghost Mission

Hey everyone,

something that “Big Finish Torchwood Adventure” always seems to do is that the adventures that i am the less excited about, are one of the best. Ghost Mission is an adventure with Andy Davidson and a new character Norton Folgate which hopefully will be in more adventures. These tow rock this adventure. It plays after Gwen got Torchwood started again. So i asume that it takes place after “Torchwood – More than this“.

Dream Team

We all know who Andy is. The little sweet police man that always stands on the side. He wants to be Torchwood and want to be part of the bigger picture. Norton is a sarcastic commentator. He always has to say something. Andy is always more gabbling than real taking and Nortons comments are always on point and sharp. They has so much chemistry.
To be honest i am shipping this two so much and hope that we will have alot more of this team. The first thing i did was search for not existing fanfics about them.

Let’s go on Mission

Norton is from the past and is like a ghost in the present – some alientec that is explained in the story but things like that just don’t stay in my head. He can’t touch anything and that brings them in a lot of funny and dangerous situation. Actually the whole story is about Norton testing Andy if he is good enough for the new Torchwood. This is how they do things now. He can’t really help Andy because of the touching thing but his comments always hit the right spot and always making me grin.

So much fun

This story has a really interessting dynamic. It is about the question why you would join Torchwood. It is about the feelings of Andy and it give us a part of the bigger picture of the whole Commitee story. The story is deep and dark in away, but the two characters make the story light and fun. You can listen to it and love and feel helpless with Andy get annoyed be Norton or laughing at Andy.

So everyone listen to this amazing story. I really love every bit of it and needs so much more material of these two characters together.

DW: The Gathering

Hey,
welcome to the second part of the story ‘The Reaping‘. It is the 87 adventure ‘The Gathering’ of big finish main range with just the fifths Doctor. He is traveling with Peri and Erimem right now and left them on their own and go into the year 2006. But of course he is not completely alone, he met Tegan again on her birthday.

Questions be answered…

This story answers most of the questions that were still open after The Reaping. For example what did Tegan do after she left the TARDIS and the Doctor. The story is about Cathy from the adventure before.
She moved and tries to save her brother which has a broken neck. Of course she tries it with the cybermen technology. The Doctor comes to stop her. But this incarnation doesn’t have met Cathy yet. We know what happened to Cathy and his brother the Doctor don’t. So we got to know what that numbers everyone is saying mean. But who is the guy that helps Cathy?
The create a circle. There are this small things like in The Reaping the Doctor searches a book he lost at one point and here he lost this book.

Saving people

I didn’t like Cathy in the first adventure but there I hadn’t a real reason. She was just a girl who had lost a father and a best friend. But here… The last time I could understand her feelings. Here on the other hand I just grow to hate her. This is so… I don’t know. She is telling her story to the barkeeper and the story she tells isn’t the same that we hear. She doesn’t want to help Tegan. She is ready to kill people to save her brother and then she is telling everyone the Doctor doesn’t know what a life means? The Doctor cares so much even the sixth Doctor he just choose not to show it anymore. That Nate survived is like a miracle. But it would be more human to just let him die… The only one that doesn’t understand how important a life is Cathy and that is making her really unsympathetic. Even her half cybermen brother understand that more than anyone.

It is good to met Tegan again. Tegan is something I really miss in the NewWho. She has a life, a good life, a life she choose and she is totally okay with that. Even when she knows that her life is not perfect and knows that it doesn’t have a good end for her. But she choose this life over the Doctor… Tegan was never my favorite but here she proves how strong she is and that the Doctor isn’t making your life better…not always.

DW: The Reaping

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 86 adventure ‘The Reaping’ of big finish main range with the sixth Doctor and Peri. This story takes place in on the 24th september 1984 in Baltimore. Peri is leaving in the end of the story for a time that is not nearer defined before she rejoin the Doctor. This Story is part of a bigger story. The Reaping, The Gathering and The Harvest belong together. The Reaping can stand alone. There is just one thing that just stays in the dark. But sometimes it happens in Doctor Who.

Peris life

This story is a very personal story for Peri. At a station on the moon ‘the googlebox’ you can see everything on earth history and she decide to look for her family. That is when she found out that her best friends dad is murdered. She wants to go home. But the welcome doesn’t go like she hoped and of course there is more about the murder.
For the first time I listened to a story where I totally like and understand Peri. We have do deal with a lot emotion from Peri and it really works for me. I feel so much with Peri in this story that the other characters like Peris mother or her best friend Cathy seems unsympathetic for me and i dislike them. It is not that their feelings are not understandable too. But they just doesn’t work for me, like Peri.

The murder case

Peri and the Doctor already have a close relationship again. She feels secure around him. It is lovely to hear. Especially when you have like older Peri with them. You actually see the similar between Peri and her mother. The story just plays with these few people. After they found out that the have to deal with cybermen. The Doctor, Peri, her mother, Cathy and Brother and the suspect of the murder are trapped on the building in the graveyard.
The murdered father comes back as a cybermen and we have to ask us if something is left in the cybermen of the real man. And what is the meaning of surviving.
The story is so real and tragic. It is a really good story and with The Gathering it got even better. Just two things are not to liking.

First i really dislike that there is something left of the father…but they are explaining it with the uncompleted conversion. Which would make him like Lisa and with this i can live.
The second thing is that the Doctor in the end let something on earth on the house of Peri, which doesn’t make sense and is really irresponsible.

DW: Red

Hey Guys,
welcome to the 85th adventure ‘Red’ of the big finish main range. Mel and the 7th Doctor are visiting a civilation that chiped themself.

Machine

The story has so much potential. It is not a new story. There is a community which decided to make a maschine that can take away your anger. They are all chiped, which mean the machine can take away your memories of your anger of your feelings. The machine takes their responisblitiy form them. This chip not just take their anger, it takes all their emotions. With brings us to very interssting situations. Because you always want what you can’t have.

Perfect system

This system seems perfect but nor Doctor or Mel thinks so. Both for really different reason. The Doctor thinks that the anger have to go somewhere. You can’t just take it away. Mel are thinking of all the other emotions like love and friendship. Also we have to patries here. One that let the machine edting them and the others that decided against it. They are not so different how they think. These people also forget how to feel and how to handle real emotions. That is what the hope to learn from Mel. I wish we had more of that part of the story.
This adventure also shows me how little Mel really knows the doctor. She believes in him and it is a good thing but he is not that good person she sees in him.

It is a really good story. So go and listen to it.

Torchwood: The Victorian Age

Hey Guys,

so I am back from my vacation in Prague and here is already ‘Zone 10’ waiting, but i never wrote about ‘The Victorian Age’. So here we go with the first Episode of the second season of Big Finish Torchwood adventure. Here we have Captain Jack Harkness again and Queen Victoria. It plays on the 17 May 1899.

Alien Hunt

This episode is a hunt through London. Jack is hunting down an Alien that should have been died and broke out of Torchwood when the Queen is there to inspect the Institute. The fun in this Story is the Queen that is going with Jack on the hunt. She is a great character. She sees the world in a different way and is desperate to help her people. She is not running after Jack, most of the time the Queen is running into the action and Jack needs to follow. It is a great dynamic between them. It seems like her walls are coming down and she has fun on the adventure with Jack and on the other hand is shocked from all the pain and death she sees and want to close Torchwood down. They seem close in some scene but there is always a distance between them.

It is a really great story and it is fun. It has humor, really great music and i can just recommand it.

DW: The Settling

Hey Guys,
here we go with the 82 adevnture ‘the Settling’ from the big finish main range. The seventh Doctor, Ace and Hex are landing in 1649 were Cromwell set an ultimatiom to Wexford. This is Hex first adventure in the earth past. So where do we start.

The Beginning of the end

I am not a way of the way the story is told. This is something i always say when we start in the present and than have something like two days before. But i have to say the way Hex is speaking, i forget about this way of telling the Story. Hex is thinking about what happend and seems to be very bad because he sounds a little broken. Everytime Hex is talking in the present, i just want to hug him.

Travling with Cromwell

We have two story parts. One is Hex who travels with Cromwell and is trying to make him a better man. He is trying to make a difference. Than we have the Doctor and Ace, which are searching for Hex. The Doctor and Hex have a pregant woman with them and which brings them in a difficult situation.
Can History be changed? This is a interessting theme and we know the Doctors opinion about it. You can’t change History. But maybe you can make a difference.

Did we make a difference

Hex is feeling for the first time. That he couldn’t save people like he wanted. He can’t change history, people are dying around him. Where Ace is seeing the positive side. They made a difference, they did the best they could do and they saved the pregnant woman.
But Hex don’t sees it yet as a difference. Thausands died and they saved one. He is not ready to see that one is better than none. He still wants to save everyone and that makes him so loveable but Ace is right. This makes a different. Hex is already thinking about leaving the TARDIS.

The Story is good but not more.
