DW: The Space Museum – rewatch

Welcome Guys,

to ‘The Space Museum’ is the first adventure of Doctor Who, which features an alternative timeline. The Doctor, Ian, Barbara and Vickie find themself at the planet Xeros. Ahistory places it around 2965 but there is no year given or much hints for what year it could be. They assume because of the ‘banded’ Dalek and not the ‘slatted’ one that it has after the fall of the Morok Empire (mentioned in ‘The Death of Art’).

The familiar bantering

What I love about the TV series is that we had 5 adventures with this group of people but when you watch it you have the feeling as if they travel for ever with each other. They grow very close and I love who good they know each other. It is always fun to watch them interact with each other.
I love these three companions so much. Vicki has a lot of screen time to show off her talent. This episode shows us again that the Doctor is not the one that does the saving. The companions save him so often and I love it.

Got to see us

Finally the four of them visit a museum – the Space Museum. From the start everything is a little wrong. Like the don’t leave footprints or can touch anything. They also find themself into glass cases. They have to change their future and get in between to sides fighting. Problems after problems for the four of them

The problem with the future

We have here the problem I like the most about knowing the future. The question the four of them ask them a lot. Were we suppose to do this. Is this action what brings us to the future we want to prevent? Or are we actually changing something? I like this idea a lot.

Top 10 – Science-Fiction

Hey Guys,

welcome to the next top ten. Sciene Fiction is one of my favorite kind of series. I mean aliens and Space what do you want more. There are a few series like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D or Falling Skies that I loved so much for the first three season and than it just turns bad – in my opinion. But let’s start with my Top Ten.

1) Firefly
Firefly is amazing. It just have one season but this season is so great. It is Cowboys in Space with good music. The characters are amazing and so different. It is just so much fun to watch these crew. Sadly not all mystery got explained but it is still one of the best Sci-Fi Show I know.

2) Doctor Who
Since my blog is about Doctor Who. It has to be on my list. Obviously it is an amazing series with a lot of seasons. So it is the perfect series of quarantine. Start with the first season of New Doctor Who. If you already love New Doctor Who start watching Classic Who. If you watched all of this than you have a whole world of Big Finish and books.

3) Torchwood
Torchwood is part of Doctor Who. But it is really different from Doctor Who. It normal adult, more sex. I mean the first adventure is a sex – alien… it is sooooo bad at the start. But give it a few more episodes and ignore Gwen. The series is amazing and characters are great.

4) Neon Genesis Evangelion
This is one of the series that started my Manga/Anime Hype. I loved it than and I love it now. Teenager (it always has be teenagers) as to control EVAs to fight against bad creatures. It is about mysterious of these creatures and about the problems of these teenagers.
The only thing about this series I don’t like is the ending. But I also have the feeling the creature has the opinion than me. Because he rewrites the ending a lot.

5) Stargate/Stargate Atlantis
These both series are cult. They have a great team and the story lives through the chemistry of these characters. It is a real fun to watch them interact with each other.

6) Gundam Wing
This is another series about teenager saving the world. Gundam Wing is a great series about war and what it means. About manipulation and wrong decision.

7) Dollhouse
This is another series that end to early. It is great and I really love the series but the last part of season 2 is kinda hasty. It is about people who get programmed with other identities. They can be bought. For example one man want to relive one day with his dead wife and orders this other person that got the memories and skills of this person. Of course things don’t go with out problems

8) Sarah Jane Adventures
Another series from the Doctor Who Universe. Sarah Jane Adventure is the opposite of Torchwood. This is a series for kids. Sarah Jane is one of the old companions of the Doctor. She is a journalist who finds an alien boy and adopt him.

9) Wizards vs Aliens
This is another kids series. It is written by Russel T. Davis and Phil Ford. It is lovely to see magic and aliens in one series. The two main characters are really different but also built a really strong friendship. I really have to rewatch it.

10) Dark Matter
This is actually the one series you can see all the ‘surprising’ turn long before they even come. But I like the characters. It is fun series. But also it ended with the third series and I haven’t watched

The Omega Factor: Let the Angel tell thee

Hey Guys,

welcome to the second Box Set of ‘The Omega Factor’ ‘Let the Angel tell thee’. In this story you don’t really of a case. Anne is working with Edward Milton. After the kills in ‘Somnum Sempiternum‘ Edward Milton is the one that profited from it.
Adam is haunted by bees or wasps in his apartment. He moves to Anne and is plagued by nightmares and Morag who tries to tell him something.
Also Anne is getting lucky with man. She goes out with Edward Miltons uncle.

The normal week of Department 7

There is a lot going on in this story without a case. All the stories of course have something to do with each other. It is sweet to see Anne in with a man. She is kinda sweet and a bit shy. But what I love the most about it is the way she talks about Adam. The way Adam is jealous and protective. In the end it is all about the relationship between these two.

Morag is back

This sweet girl who get used by everyone. She is trying to warn Adam of what is coming. But it would be too easy when she just tell him. She speaks in riddles and he has no idea what she means. I hope that this girl at some point get her peace.
This is my favorite story of this Box Set. It is just like a normal week in Department 7 but in the end it is obviously more and plays into the big story. Also the story shows how deeply Anne and Adam care for each other.

Me and the quarantine

Hey Guys,

it is one of the biggesst theme right now the virus and the quarantine. So I also talk with a friend of mine about the situation. I told my friend about this block and he told me he wanted to look at it so he get tips what he can look. I always wanted to do Top 10s and things like this. I never got around to do anything about it.
My biggest problem is that I can never decide what to put on the list. Because I love everything so much and who a character in a movie ‘The DVD’s would be jealous.’

But I will try to do my best. So that maybe someone get a little help with what to do with the time and I actually spend time with my favorite thing talking about series.

So I will do a few lists in the next few days. If you want to talk about series or want to do recommendation on your own just talk to me.

DW: Agent Provocateur

Hey Guys,

welcome to the IDW DW mini-series #1 ‘Agent Provocateur’ with the tenth Doctor and Martha. While I love Manga I always had my problems with comics. One of the problems is the drawing. I would never say that this comics is bad drawing but it is not my style. I bought a bunch of comics a while ago. For just one story and I don’t even remember which story. Now that we all have a lot of time at hand. I start to read them.
‘Agent Provocateur’ plays in three different times and a lot of different places. We have the 1957, 1974 and 4.999.999.999.

Best milkshake

The Doctor is still trying to give Martha the best milk shake ever when they ran into a Sycorax who hunts for the last of their kinds. So the Doctor as the last of the Time Lords is obviously on the list. This is where the story starts.
Truth be told I couldn’t follow what this story has to do with rest of the story. We find out that on a few planets the whole population except one individual disappeared.

What is going on

My biggest problem with the story was that I didn’t get the jumps. From were the one chapter ended and the next began. Sometime it gets explained later and I think ahh.. that is why it starts there but other times I still don’t get it. Maybe it is just me or I was to sleepy to understand it. The story was not bad it remembered me a little of the end of season 4 with the aliment planets.
The interesting part is actually this group of creatures that are trying to manipulated the events around the Doctor.

The end of this story lets somethings open and I think at we will see a few of the characters again at some time. Maybe I even have some of them. I will see what I find in my bundle of comics.

The Omega Factor: The Changeling

Hey Guys,

welcome to the second story of ‘The Omega Factor‘ Box 2 ‘The Changeling’. I really like this story. Adam is undercover in prison to investigate a few death. Anna is searching for information on the outside. In this story there is not much Anna and Adam interaction.

Mysterious Death

A prison guard dies in prison. They have filmed and nobody killed him or came near him. The prisoners are all in the cells. Still the kind of death is suffocate. The prisoner they investigate killed his best friend in the same way. Also he was the prisoner that talked to the guard when it happened.
Adam feels something odd when he sees and hears this video. So he decide to go undercover to find out what is going on with him.

The outside world

Anna is trying the same thing on the other side. She is obviously worried about Adam. She is searching information about Reaver – the prisoner in question. So she tries to talk to the psychiatrist of Reaver and the mother of the best friend.

The changeling

I really love the story. It turns out different from I thought. The back story of Reaver is really interesting. I love how Anna is leading the investigation and Adam is amazing how he tries to understand what is going on with Reaver. He has a lot of compassion and a trust in his feelings. Also it is interesting to see how this story plays into the big story. Banks is in all the stories even when it is just in the background.

DW: Patient Zero

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 124th Big Finish Main Range Adventures ‘Patient Zero’ with the sixth Doctor and Charley. Patient Zero is hard to place in time. In this story they talk about traveling ‘so far into the past’ but the story ‘To the Death’, which is shaped with some of the consequences of this story, claims it takes place in the future. So Ahistory put it around 7190.
This story is also concluding a story that started with ‘Urgent Call‘ (Bonus Story of ‘I.D.’) and plays also a part in stories like ‘Urban Myths‘ (Bonus Story of’Exotron’), ‘The Vanity Box‘ (Second Story of the Wishing Beast) and ‘Mission of the Viyrans‘.

The Amethyst Viral Containment Station

The Doctor finally demands answers from Charley but before she can give them she fades in and out of existence. She caught a virus, which itself seems to be a problem, because the TARDIS seems to protect them from this stuff. The Doctor tries find to out how to save Charley. The search leads him to the Amethyst Viral Containment Station. This station works for the Viyrans. But we also meet the Daleks again.

Daleks and time

In this story the Daleks ask for things and don’t shoot first. They traveled in time and seem to be aware that time is a very delicate thing and are not shooting without thinking it through. That is actually something new about the Daleks. The Dalek search for a Patient Zero and they are not willing to give up. It is what I really like in this story is that the Daleks are acting with content and the Doctor using the Daleks. ‘Know your enemy.’ It leads to a very great end and I love it.

Blind Passenger

We also have a blind passenger on board of the TARDIS or maybe she is just a imagination of Charley. The girl is a little fangirl of the Doctor and claims to be his companion and that she is a long time with him when he still had gray hair. This leads to a very interesting story. That will be influence the next stories very much and I am really excited to find out where it leads to.

Listing or not

Definitely listen to it. The sixth Doctor and Charley has such a great and easy chemistry. They had fallen in place so easy that even the Doctor himself finds it weird. He can’t let her die and he doesn’ t understand why it is so much more important to him than everything else. He has to deal with her and his feelings, with the Daleks and Fratalin and nobody helping him.

DW: The Company of Friends

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 123rd Big Finish Main Range Adventure ‘The Company of friends’. Here we have four stories with the eighth Doctor and four different companions. The first story is with Benny which takes place around 2609 (Ahistory) and fifty million years before. Ahistory puts the story in the 10th season of Benny. The second story is with Fitz and the third with Izzy. Izzy’s story takes place on 8th April 1988. The fourth story is with Mary Shelley and takes place in June 1816.

Benny’s Story

I think most people know who Bernice Summerfield is. She is an archaeologist and a companion of the seventh Doctor in the books. Later Big Finish made audio dramas around her. Here we get a short summary of her life. Even if you never heart of her you got a good grip of her. I like her. She is fun. In this story she is working for a woman who is searching for something. It turns out it is TARDIS key of the Doctors TARDIS.
The atmosphere is light and fun with a little action in it.

Fitz’s Story

Fitz is also a companion out of the books. He has a complicated story. I myself don’t fully understand because I just read the summary of his story. Ahistory hadn’t placed the story in time and there is no time given just the planet Entusso. This story is about the private Alien Device Incorporated that used the Doctor in their commercial. So the Doctor starts investigating. Like the story before it is a really light and fun atmosphere.

Izzy’s Story

Izzy is a companion from the comics. I never of her before. In this story she seems young, loud and having always something to say. She is kinda a geek. This story is about Izzy wanting to know what happened in the last volume of one of her comics, that just seem to have vanished from every place. The atmosphere is crazy? I think it is actually crazy. It has a lot of aliens in it and really special comic ‘heroes’. This is the story I like the less of all of them.
Also I really dislike the ending and I am totally the Doctor in this one… I really don’t understand her.

Mary’s Story

Mary Shelley is a companion that appears in a book and a few audio dramas. Here in this story we have her and a few of her friends to kill time. It is the first meeting of her and the Doctor. It is also a story about how Mary finds her idea to her book Frankenstein. What I like about the story and why I really want to listen to more stories with her is that she is a companion that really existed. This is the only story that is really dark. Mary is like the only light in this story.

Listing or not

The most stories of the eighth Doctor are dark and sad. This Doctor has so many scars on him…he has always that shadow over him. But in this stories we see a lighter, funnier Doctor. He is with people who are so fully of life and hope and optimism that makes him look not so troubled. So yeah differently go and listen to this.

DW: Enemy of the Daleks

Hey Guys,

welcome to the 121st Big Finish Main Range Adventure ‘Enemy of the Daleks’ with the seventh Doctor and Ace and Hex. Ahistory is placing the story around 2560 during the Daleks Wars. This and the name of the story are promising us another Dalek Story. This story contains also the second part of ‘The Three Companions‘ were Polly tell the Brigadier a story about their adventures.

Welcome to war

This is a war story. Do I have to say more? The humans are fighting against the Daleks for years now. There is a desperation in them. They know the enemy, their the cruelty. A group of survivor of a Dalek attack flee to the planet Bliss, where they find a science base. All is set for a good and cruel war and action story spiced with war crimes.

Like the cybermen?

This is actually the first time that Hex encounters the Daleks. He thought that the cybermen were the worst the universe has to offer. Now he learns about the Daleks and it scars him. You all know that I love Hex and even more this whole combi of people. But Hex is different… he wants to see the world and loves adventure about he is no soldier and he is breaking by all the bad things he is witnessing. What I love so much about him is who he always tries to protect, to save people. How often do we see Companions standing up to Daleks to protect people he doesn’t even know?

Everyone in his element

Hex story part is about him being a nurse. The Doctor left him to look after the wounded and the patients that are infected by a ‘virus’.
Ace on the other hand is with the soldiers and can work with the big guns again.
That leaves the Doctor to deal with the scientist, the war crime and the question the Doctor has to answer in many incarnations. Is genocide something he can, shall and will do?

Listing or not

I like the story. War stories are always so dark and cruel and bloody… and this is no different… there is no real happy end. I am not such a great fan of these stories… but Big Finish always make it work and they are great. This particular works for me because of the combi of characters in the story. So yes listen to it. But you will not find humor in it or light conversation but it is totally worth it.

Doctor Who: We are the Daleks

.Hey Guys,

welcome to the 201st Big Finish Main Range Adventure ‘We are the Daleks’ with the seventh Doctor and Mel. The title promise us the Daleks. The takes place October 1987 in London and Bradford. The story will also take place at Sakro and Callico Nine. Callico Nine is a planet the Thals inhabited after leaving Sakro.

Everything like you left it

The Doctor and Mel visited home. He tell’s er that everything is like she left it except for the big skyscraper in form of Dalek. Both of them start investigating the situation by seperating. Mel get’s a job in this building and the Doctor is searching for information outside of the building.
This means that Mel and the Doctor don’t have really much screen time together.

Little confusing

The first episode is a little confusing. It jumps a little with the parts. This means that it jumps between scene with Mel and the Doctor and Mel working in the building. I had problems to put in the right direction. After like 10 minutes you got a picture of all the storylines that are going on. This is the moment when the confusion stops.

Daleks are always fun

It is no secret that I love the Daleks and the Mel and seventh Doctor compination. They are fun together. The way Mel interacts with the seventh is quiet different to sixth Doctor. The story has a nice pace. With all the politics in this story you could think that it is a slow story, but it isn’t. The story has a lot of actin scenes and doesn’t slow down. All this creates a good atmosphere and great story.
When you love Mel than you should listen to ‘We are the Daleks’. She has a lot of action and it is always fun to listen to her save the day.
