Elementary: Season 5

Hey Guys,

I was so happy when Netflix finally had season 5 of Elementary. Like you know when you read my post before (click here for the other article) I love Elementary. The last season was great and I really had high hopes for this season. Some people may already have a feeling what i will say. Season 5 sadly didn’t match my expectation. Of course it was still great but something was missing.

Something Missing

I hate that feeling, when you watch a series and the characters are amazing and the stories are good and you totally in love with the series but somehow the new episodes are still with the amazing characters and still have good stories but they just don’t get you like before. Something is missing. That is what happened here. They are still the characters I love and somehow it feels wrong.
There are to points I actually dislike. First is that at one point Sherlock stopped going to the meetings… and I had the feeling that we were already over that point but before got annoying they let Sherlock see the light.
The second point is the sudden end of a relationship. I don’t think that the breakup is out of character or anything it is that it just came out of the blue.

Dream Team Bell/Sherlock

What I love the most about this season of Elementary are the Bell/Sherlock episodes. They are amazing. I always love when these two work together or their bond deepens. It is beautiful to see how their bond grows and how the open up to each other. I love Joan and Sherlock. But Sherlock built his life around her it is not longer unusual when he opens up to her… it is still beautiful to see the deep trust between Sherlock and Joan. But you know that Sherlock in the end will always tell Joan the truth.
I also love Joan and Marcus. They have a beautiful friendship. Joan will stand up and fight for Marcus and nobody everything something different. When he has problems and she asked about it he most likely will tell her.
But with Sherlock and Marcus things are different. They were in a very rocky place a long time in season two (Elementary S02) but they rebuilt their relationship and I find it really beautiful to see these two persons try to get along, to treat each other with respect and trust.
There are really good episodes in this season. One of the episodes is an episode with them in the last part of the season. We get more about Marcus past.

Joan needs to help

I really like it that they bring up that something is missing for Joan. She was a doctor and then a drug consult (I can’t find the right word), all the job it was about helping people. As a detective things are a little different. The person she made after that her project on the other hand is not really interesting. Shinwell is not really sympathetic or exciting. Just a little boring. But it brings Sherlock in an interesting spot. What would he do for people he believes in or Joan believes in. What would he do for the things he thinks ar justice.
Also it kinda puts Sherlock and Joan on different sides and I really love to see this work out.

Still special

So yes this season of Elementary is totally lacking on a interesting overall story and it just lost something of his magic. But the season was still good. The characters are still amazing and the relationship are still the most important thing in the series. So yeah I still loved the season… and really with that ending. I want the next season really fast, please.

Elementary: Season 4

Hey Guys,

here we go with the fourth season of Elementary, which is at the time my favorite Crime-Series. When I started season three I knew he would take drugs again, but I thought it would be happen sooner than the finale. But I really loved it that way. The fourth season is really good but sadly not as good as the two season before. But totally better than season one.

Developement of Sherlock

The reason why I love this series so much is the developement of Sherlock. If someone would turn into an episode now, he may thing that not much of Sherlock Holmes is in it (that is what many people I talk to said). But does it has to be? Sherlock from the first season was a different person than the Sherlock of season fourth. He changed a lot – Not in a unlogic way. No he slowly developed into the person we see now. It is amazing to see what person Sherlock had become. I remember the Sherlock from season one who didn’t had a person he cared about except Irene. He had respect for a few people but couldn’t careless about their personal life and problems as long his work is not influenced. The person we see today cares about so many people. I mean he really cares. He tries really hard to help these people he cared about. He open up to them when he thinks that this can help them. He starts to accept boundaries. He actually starts to care about hurting the people around him with his way of acting.
I love to see how he changed.
He is at a low point in this season. He used drugs again and he has to deal with it and to deal with what people may think about him now. Also he has to live with the consequences of what he did and that it not just influenced him.

Morland Holmes

Morland Holmes – Sherlocks father – is the main theme of this season. What is a plus point and a minus point. We get to know a lot more about Sherlocks life before Watson. We see the relationship between these two what give us a lot of emotional stuff. We see these two working on a relationship and failing… or maybe in a way succeeding? We see how similar these two are and how different. It is really amazing stuff. But on the other hand. It is about the attempt on Morlands life and who is behind it. It is about a conspiracy in the dark. Sadly the crime part of the series and all the other characters come a little short because of that.
I for my part like the personal stuff and didn’t need any of the other. But here we go with everything.
The arc about Morland is with the finale closed for know. I really like how the portrait the relationship between them. I read through a lot of comments about these two and found many different opinions. The finale doesn’t make clear what person Morland Holmes is. It doesn’t give us facts it just gives us what we want to see. Some wanted to see a loving father and i see someone who may love his son but would use him anyway – I don’t trust a word out of Morlands mouth. I think he is a really bad father and Sherlock would be better without him. But look and make your own opinion. I would love to hear what you think of Morland Holmes.

The greatest team

When sadly Marcus and Gregson came a little short. They have their episode which are really good but sadly in the other episode they are more background noise. But Watson has a lot space to shine. We see her growing and handle things. We see the amazing partner ship between Sherlock and her, which is getting deeper and deeper. The trust between them, the openness about their feelings and problems and the way they try to protect each other… it is amazing to see. I love the dynamic. We don’t just get to know more about Sherlocks family we learn a lot more about Watsons family. We see her act without Sherlock and coming up with cases and solutions. She is not someone who gets impressed by Sherlock. Now she is someone who gets to the solution 20 minutes before Sherlock. She doesn’t need to hide behind him. She is good at what she does and she knows it.

I am someone who ships Sherlock and Watson – in every version I watched Sherlock Holmes. I do it in Elementary too. But I also love these platonic love between them that goes over everything. They are it for each other. They will always choose each other and do anything for each other. They love each other so deeply that it warms my heart even more to see Watson helping Sherlock to actually start a real relationship with a person he is interested in.

Watching or not

Like I said at the start season two and three are way better than this season. But this season is amazing and alone for the development of Sherlock and Watson on their own and in this relationship is worth watching it. But I also have to admit that there were episode I thought that maybe Elementary should end soon. But after the finale I am again totally in love with the series and can’t wait to actually look the fifth season and a sixth and seven…
So yes go watch it.

Elementary: Season 3

Hey Guys,

here i go and watched the 3rd seaon of Elementary. The last season left me on really big high. I was judging Watson for not seeing in what dark place he was. That he was running away of the feeling of losing her. I had a great excpetions of this season and one was that we see Sherlock on a really low point in his life. It doesn’t happen like i thought… and i still have very mixed feelings about the third season.

First point: Time jump

The season starts month after the last season and Sherlock is already on a better place than i thought we would see him. He is already fighting his way back and i thought that we would see him fall. Joan built a life for her own. She is working for the police and got a boyfriend, making nemesis. Sherlock is running away and getting a new student.
I dislike the time jump. Because i felt betrayed a little of the fall of Sherlock. It is not that i want to see him fall. I wish him a really great and good life but that show isn’t a happy one. Beneath all the laugh and fun it is really dark and crappy place. The people are pretty broken and we left Sherlock at a place where he lost all ground beneath his feet. He fall…and we didn’t see that. Later in the season we got a flashback and see how worse he was but it was just not enough for me.

Second point: Kitty

Kitty is the biggest point why i have mixed feelings about the season. Just to be clear. I love Kitty. She is an amazing character and her story is really great and i really feel the hole she left. Truth be told I didn’t liked her the first two episodes but she really grow on me. She is a really strong character and utterly broken. That one point i love of her arc is the relationship with Sherlock. Both are so broken. Sherlock needs her to so he doesn’t drown. He concentrate everything on her. He needs her more than she needs him. She needs someone to help her heal and Sherlock is not the right one for it, he himself is to broken for it. But in the end he is it what really helps her heal none aless…
Between Sherlock and Watson it feels like the two has beneath Clyde adopted Kitty.
On the other hand is Sherlock so focused on Kitty that we see Bell just as a cop in the background. He has like zero interaction with Sherlock just with Joan. That is for me a really negative point.
You see my troubled feelings?

Third point: Everyone so broken

The second part of the season is all i missed in the first part. But now i miss Kitty…
Bell and Alfredo get interaction with Sherlock again. We see that fragile friendship grow and how broken they are. Sometimes i forget that Alfredo is a broken junkie like Sherlock. We see him not often struggle and episodes when he does are so good and sad.
Bell is such a lonley character but we never really saw many of that but in the second season it becomes so much clearer.
Also we have to deal with a Watson that is trying to isolate herself when everyone else is struggling to fight the loneliness.
One of my favorite scenes is were Bell and Sherlock through cards at the hockey-cup. Right now he needs just that.

I love the third season. But it is totally not what i thought i would be. But in a way this is better, isn’t it? Maybe i even love that i have such mixed feelings about the season because it is just like the life. It isn’t black and white. Everything is just gray…

Elementary: Season 2

Hey Guys,
this season of Elementary was awesome. We saw Sherlock go to so much character developement. We see the relationship between Watson and him tested and kinda failing – not really but for him it feels like it.

Watson

Sometimes Watson seems to forget that he is a drug adict. She beginn to wants a flat for herself what is totally okay, but acctually it came for me a little out of nowhere. Because when Sherlock ask her if she would life withhim somewhere else she said yes and that was totally after she had this affair with Mycroft. I am totally with her, when she wants to move out. But the timing she decided to tell could be worse. Yes, it will be always something. But a long friend that was also an addict died on an overdose. He feared for Watsons life. When Mycroft struck him down, he thought that he lost her. This is hardly the right moment to move out. Not for someone that is so sensative. For him it is like losing her all over again and than his brother…

Mycroft

I know many people don’t have the same opinion as me but in “Sherlock” and here Mycroft is played repulsive. I just see him and thing he just should stand away. Alone thought… but okay. Joan want to be with him. She is changing her mind so much in just one episode. The one day she can’t trust him anymore and the other everything is okay again? Sorry it isn’t. He maybe got to the MI6 again because he wanted to protect Sherlock and yeah i think Joan should’ve told Sherlock. But this make nothing good. He tried to pressure him to move back to London and leave the working surrounding. Lucky for Sherlock he is at that point strong enough to see that and decide against it. Than Mycroft brings Joan in danger and he is lying to Sherlock, but that is not the worst the worst is. Mycroft struck him down with the knowledge that Sherlock will thing that is going there without a back up. Which means the would be both dead. The most important person in Sherlocks life is Watson and even for a moment Mycroft let him thing she is dead… this is the worst you could do. Sorry i will not forgive him for anything of it.

Bell

Oh my god… they can’t do this to Bell. The relationship between him and Sherlock got tested. Bell had a really hard time to forgive Sherlock. To be honest Sherlock doesn’t make it easy t forgive him. But i think because of that. Bell and Sherlock got closer. They understand each other better and he knows now about Sherlocks problem. Which seems to be important because it seems like he can be becoming relapsing.
